Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy

well still lots to do to get those cars packed, but here my track with the additional lights, much better now, my wife was watching the meter to see if I was using too much energy  Rofl

Pitlane Review Daytona (Class C)
One problem is of course that as the cars get faster there is more potential for "driver error" rather than due to the characteristics of the car and and we start to see that here. So my apologize to the Teams effected, but of course it was night time driving.
I kind of though last night that the Lancia of ALS might just get the top spot, but that "1off " in a difficult place probably cost around 6 secs and at least one if not 2 podium places. So sorry for that. Bangers Racing's Lancia also did not fair much better, although the "offs" in this case I felt this was more due to the car stability than my late night driving. Ruscillo Racings BMW M1 was a surprise result for me, I had not seen this as a potential top 3 car during the practise run, so well done to Stevie.
Team Tatters BMW 320i was always going to be a contender.

so here is the Practise versus Race Fastest times comparison.

It looks like I was a bit over cautious on the preparation of my rear tyres. Being very concerned about the 10mm width limit, I didn't want them to swell in the weeks between posting and scrutineering. Looks like I was a bit over cautious.
Hopefully, with more running, cleaning and oiling, these "green" tyres come into life over the next few stages. At least the practice lap times showed the car to have the performance.

Unfortunately there is no oiling allowed, hosts are only allowed to clean tyres with Tape and clean braids with contact cleaner/lighter fuel.
And to add to your woes looking at the practise times, relatively the car seems to be getting slower the more times it ran.

I don't think the tyres are necessarily the cause for the offs and I don't feel it was the driver error in this case, if you take Courtney's Camaro, it is narrower with tyres much the same width as yours. Mostly I think it comes down to balance, especially in this class where the cars is relatively wide in comparison to the classic Le Mans models.

I would not worry to much, as the more running the tyres get the better they will get despite the oiling the cleaning will or should make them grippy ?

Well managed to replace the chassis on RoadRunners Aston Martin DBR1, when I opened the car up the motor mount collar was just parting company with the chassis again. But as you know replacing a 3d chassis is not as simple as one imagines and there was quite a bit of work. The question is will it now be able to catch the front runners..........umm  I don't think it will catch that Ferrari somehow, wish I could have changed a few other things as well as the chassis, like the wheels, tyres and motor  Rofl
However unfortunately I can't, so we will see how it goes on the next round.

Also of course I been busy with boxing up the cars, slight improvement (I hope) on last time, each car having its own slotted plinth made of foam board.

Even the elastic bands are colour coded for each class  Sun

So tomorrow they should be collected and on their way to South Manchester Slot Club

It is Points Results Day  Thumbup

Class Points Results

Team Points Results (bonus points for fitting lights added)

Penalties
these will be deducted at the end of the series for both class and Team points results, if it is decided that a particular car was advantaged in regards to performance as a result of a major rule infringement. The penalty will be -1 point for each Round run.

Cars under investigation
Class A  - Team Tatters AMG Mercedes   (Track clearance)
Class B - All entrants cars apart from Bangers Racing AC Cobra, Green Star Racing MGA and BARacer Ferrari 250 GTO (Rear tyre width)
Oaktree Racers - Maserati A6 GCS (slimline 25k motor)
Class C - ALS Racing Lancia BMC, Harrison's Racers Zakspeed Capri (Rear tyre width)
Class D - Savage GT Ferrari 512M ( Excessive motor magnet traction). In this case it has been decided not to allow the car to run on plastic home tracks with metal contact rails. However I have decided that the Team can change the motor after the Woodland Fort Round if they wish to an acceptable one to be able to compete in the Viking Club Round if the car can be turned around in time.

HEADLINE NEWS !
After a long series of doubts and car rebuilds Oaktree Racers are sending their cars to me tomorrow  Wrench
They of course will need to be vetted and photographed before being allowed into the series, so they may or may not get into the next Round at Manchester. But I will do my best to get them there if we can.

The cars of Oaktree Racers arrived and the Scrutineer has allowed both cars into the contest. The Class B & C Reports has been edited with the information as measured to day. The cars have been sent on to South Manchester for them to include them in the 2nd Round.

I did the shakedown of the cars this evening to make sure everything was working both track and car wise and happy to report that every car made it round the track very nicely. The quality of entry has been very high in this proxy with some very quick cars but hopefully some very close racing too. Some videos of the shakedown will follow shortly. The actual race will be tomorrow afternoon. There's no WiFi at the mill so no video I'm afraid but results will be published tomorrow night.

Couple of bits of damage to note:

Harrisons Racers front light has fallen out one side, I found it and saved it away. Not worth opening up the car to stick it back on in my opinion, it's just a little piece of silver foil effectively.

Team Groundhogs gt40 has a slightly squashed, bent, possibly cracked A pillar on one side. Nothing I can do about it but shouldn't make any difference to the performance.

The Groundhogs GT40 was entered with the squashed A pillar post, I guess due to some previous racing damage.
Good luck tomorrow
