What F1 could really use IMO, is a new rule that prohibits pit stops during VSC or Physical Safety cars.
Better still pit lane exit stays shut until the safety car and all the cars have passed in the case of safety car, or a 5 second hold after the pit stop in the case of VSC.

Dominant win from Charles Leclerc and Ferrari, they seem to have quite an edge on Red Bull right now, but with all the rule changes it's likely that things will change as the season progresses.
Red Bull must be kicking themselves right now though. They should be putting some distance between themselves and Mercedes, but no, Russell second in the drivers championship and Mercedes second in the constructors.

After the first race it looked like a Ferrari vs RB year...unless RB get on top of the problems this'll be a one horse race.
Disappointed with Carlos today.
George did well and as he said you have to finish to get points.

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of Gilles Villeneuve's tragic accident. He was my all time racing God and F1 has never been the same for me since. I count myself extremely fortunate to have witnessed him in action. It was good to see that Sky ran a tribute piece during their Miami coverage.

I don't have a favourite F1 driver and with the exception of one or two, todays top drivers aren't anything special to remember in the coming decades. F1's owners and the FIA are turning it into a circus.
Lewis has left some magical memories but his time in F1 quickly closes whilst Max is the one to carry the baton for great F1 drivers.
It takes a great driver in a great car to achieve a lot in F1, great drivers don't win much in mediocre cars likewise mediocre drivers don't win much in great cars.

Max Verstappen's win at Spa was certainly a remarkable drive with the press/TV reporting that he won from 14th spot on the grid. Actually it was 12th as the AlphaTauris were ahead of him but, surprisingly, both of them started from the pit lane. Didn't have anything to do with them being Red Bull's junior team I am sure.
However, I wondered if anybody had won from further back than that. Step forward John Watson, in 1982 he won the Detroit GP from 17th position and in 1983 the Long Beach GP from 22nd on the grid. Now that was some achievement in a McLaren which definitely did not have a second a lap advantage over the rest of the field, without DRS and on tracks much less accommodating to overtaking than Spa.
Anybody know a better one?

Before the start of the race I predicted Max would be in the lead proper on lap 22 and win by 20 seconds...I was 4 laps and 2 seconds out...I wouldn't call it remarkable as it was expected, he didn't do anything remarkable as his car was a second quicker than the rest and he wasn't even flat out.
...I quickly got bored and didn't bother watching a lot of it instead preferring to get on with some 3D CAD.

I agree Watson’s was the best, but a very close second was Hockenheim in 2000. Ruben Barrichello’s first win saw him start from 18th on the grid. A first corner shunt, a crazy person on the track and then rain all added to the drama…
Although some luck went his way, Barrichello’s overtakes and then his drive through heavy rain on slicks was simply sensational. In 2000, the McLaren was arguably a better car than the Ferrari and Barrichello - like Watson - was a fabulous driver, but never one of the ‘greats’.

How about Jenson Buttons last to 1st in the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix
Admittedly he started 7th, but collisions and a pit lane speeding penalty put him in last on the 40th lap, and he came through to win on lap 70.

I believe Hamilton did the same back in 2018... his 66th win, 219th race at the Hockenheimring he started 14th on the grid.
