Scalextric K.I.T.T. is coming...
#1

C4226 Knight Rider K.I.T.T. RRP £53.99. Scheduled Spring 2022

The co-star of Knight Rider – alongside David Hasselhoff - Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T.) was a massively futuristic car for the time. It’s a customised 1982 Pontiac Trans-Am and still looks great today – although the tech inside is gloriously ‘retro’ for modern viewers. Mind you, it took Apple and Amazon three decades to bring us Siri and Alexa – and neither of them quite matches up to K.I.T.T...

The Scalextric model doesn’t speak, but it does have the red strobe light at the front that moves just like on the real car. The Scalextric model has a standard short-can motor in sidewinder orientation and is Digital Plug Ready...

The individual release - in full Knight Rider themed and licensed packaging - is expected in the next couple of months. These images are of the final signed pre-production sample. As you'll remember from the 2022 catalogue, K.I.T.T. will also feature alongside the DeLorean time machine in a new 80s-themed set...

This is scheduled for an autumn release - crucially in time for the all-important Christmas market...

Part of the hugely popular 'Film & TV' range, these cars aren't everyone's cup of tea... but the various Batman, Bond, Back to the Future and Only Fools and Horses releases have been a vital part of Scalextric's renaissance over the past few years - and - hopefully - into the future. Not only have they thrilled existing Scalextric fans (including myself), but the Film & TV cars have attracted significant numbers of new and returning enthusiasts to the hobby. And let's not forget, the sales have given scope for some great catalogues - packed full of a wide range of new releases. Sadly, the pandemic has hit manufacturing and delivery schedules, but it's good to see the models getting here eventually.

A big thank you to the Scalextric Team for providing images. Keep an eye out on the forum this Friday - I might just have an exclusive pre-production picture for you...

Gotta say, I'm pretty stoked about this one. I mean, the Batmobile, DeLorean, General Lee, Mad Max, and other cars have been great... but I spent my formative years glued to the TV watching Knight Rider, and the fact that they have the strobing red light is pure joy.

Back in the mid 2000s I thought about doing a Knight Rider marathon and *cough* *cough* "found" an episode or two and thought sitting through all of these was such a horrible idea as my memories were better than the show really was...

Then about 2 years ago I realized I can see episodes "legally" via satellite and just for fun recorded a few and watched them and honestly, I really enjoyed it!

The main reason is a lot of the stuff that KITT does is actually reality. Michael talking to him (Siri). KITT accessing "databases" for information=internet, in car video, talking watches, etc etc...

It actually is much better now then just a few year ago.
