Taking frustration out on marshals...
#21

Glad I'm not marshalling for you. I can feel your rage and I wouldn't want to touch your car!

Never been any rage, yet, only disappointment. It is what it is

As mentioned in others' posts be it inattention on your corner, anxiety, confusion, laziness, not enough marshals, watching the racing on other areas of the track, placing cars the wrong in the slot, if you can think it or have experienced it, our group has had them all.

It has gotten to the point that I now hold the bluetooth track call button and track call while I race, I'm so sick of inattentive marshalling, hell it isn't hard, one corner, one button but even this simplicity in itself is too bloody hard.

I've not raised my voice at the marshals, yet, however I have said things such as 'for f.. sake, really, oh come on, hello it's in front of you, wrong way, wrong colour, it isn't bloody hard etc.

I have even commented that we need to hold a 'marshalling practice session' I've even given up racing and went into practice and tuning mode for the car after my race was thrown away by simply bad marshalling even when it wasn't myself that deslotted.

What is the answer to bad marshalling other than not deslotting? I don't know as mentioned even the innocent racers have paid the price for bad marshalling.

It is a shame that you are on the other side of the World. as I would love to attend your 'marshalling practise session'  and it seems like I might learn some phrases to jivy up the marshals with, I could practise them on you in the pits.

Having just watched all of "drive to survive" I think it shows Horner's true colours, a winging (sp ?) idiot, so far up himself he believes he is never wrong.

With a team principle like that, what hope do they have to nurture Verstappen's natural talent and teach him there comes a point when you have to concede the corner and survive to have a better attempt rather than push a miscalculated move into a wreck.

Sav,

A little story on motor racing people.
My daughter (16 at the time) decided that she'd like to follow down to the Kart track because "there may be some fit boys there"
She ended up talking with a driver, young kid (13ish) at the track.

She came back to the table and summarised the conversation as :

"What a cock! He thinks he's the best there has ever been and that he is going to leave Lewis Hamilton in the dirt, for sure he is going to be an f1  world champ"

My first thought was that this is a bit hard on the young boy, but the truth is, he'll be a mighty fine racing driver.

Motor racing thrives on a Cock-sure arrogant self centred approach right from an early age.
That applies to team Principals just as much as the drivers. Maybe even  more so.
"It's always someone else's fault" is the mantra.

Slot racing does have a few shouty cocks, but I don't hang out with them.
If I fail to reslot a car car promptly, its more often than not, a poorly coloured taped car. (Piss poor lane ID)
Alan
PS my daughter doesn't date motor racing people and I'm quite glad about that   Bigsmile
