Well, Hyperpole was very exciting...



Quite a few surprises in there and plenty to think about - especially in the two GT classes, which look wide open. Hopefully the BOP won't be tweaked too much before the race.

Friday is a quiet day on the track, so time to mull over my picks for the race...

• Hypercar & overall win: The sensible money has to be on one or other Toyota, but I'm going for the #36 Alpine of Negrão, Lapierre & Vaxiviere.
  
• LMP2: As usual, this is going to be an exciting battle. My pick is G-Drive #26 - Rusinov, Colapinto & De Vries.
  
• GTE Pro: I've had my eye on the #72 Hub Auto Porsche (I have a Scalextric model of their 2015 GTE Am car), so will stick with Vanthoor, Parente & Martin.
  
• GTE Am: I also have a Scalextric TF Sport Aston, so I'll go for the #33 car of Keating, Pereira & Fraga...
  

   

I don't know if the TF Sport Aston Martin had a problem in Hyperpole - or whether they were simply showing off the livery and humiliating the graphic designer who put the cut line of the 4HORSEMEN logo at the end of the passenger door. By keeping the car in the pits with both doors open, I'm sure the #33 Aston raised a few giggles across the English-speaking world and beyond.

I'm starting to get very excited! Looks like the Eurosport coverage starts at 2.15 UK time.

That's three hours to charge up the devices, sort out the snacks, have 40 winks and then get settled in for a 25-hour shift...
