hi guys discovered my father inlaw had this the other day but unfortunately it is not working when connected to the power supply all 4 LED's light up and stay on , nothing else works or lights up
has anyone else come across this ? is there a fix ?
please be aware my knowledge of electronics is very limited
What happens if you hold the "mode" button for 3-seconds? Instructions say hold the "mode" button for 3-seconds, then push "select" to choose number of laps to race.
but after fiddling with the power lead connection several times i eventually got it working it takes several attempts , plugging in and out to get it to the start up stage again i think there could be a problem with the plug or socket or do you think this is a more terminal internal issue ?
also has any1 got an instruction manual ? or link to one ?
i know the hold down for 3 secs bit but is that it ? or are there more functions that i cannot find atm ?
Hello Oxo_Cube,
Did you get the full package, withe rally loops?
I blew up my first one so had to buy another, they are a bit on the fragile side so I treat my second unit with much resect. Their timing sensor is a magnetic reed-switch so work best with cars that have magna-traction. I once watched a live stream of a WR event where the host was using a Chrono unit to time the cars. When my car was running I didn't hear any beeps but I didn't bother to ask how they got times for my car.
Instructions attached.

yes , full package(start box , ramp , timer piece and 2x loops ) & green narrow scx borders
he is going to look for the box / start ramp banners / manual etc
have tried several cars on it so far
weirdly some do not register with the timer .... especially older scally cars ?
and coloured guide flags are a bit hit & miss
thanx for the pdf
it might shed more light on the intermittent start up hopefully
Yo Kev,
I recall that these sets do not come with a power pack and controller. The power-pack would be my first suspect. Due to the SCX proprietary connectors its not simple to connect alternatives - what you got?

Edit: Just looked at your photo again and can see the power and controller connectors in place. If not tried already, try it without the sensor wire connected.

yes power pack and controller are present
tbh , i think i have tried every combination of the plugs in and out hehehe
it seems the power connection plug must be inserted into the start ramp box in a very particular way to energize the box properly
it obviously inserts only one way into the socket
but i have not yet figured out the correct way ( slightly , up down left right hard soft fast slow .... or a combination of any or all hehehe )
so it is very much trial and error ... ohh and patience ... insert , remove ( many times ) at different angles / speeds until i get the correct panel illumination
hope this explains my issue correctly
Yo Kev,
Have just dug out my unit and found and SCX plug-pack and separately an SCX power connector, just need to join them back together.
Meanwhile, you should be able to tighten the connectors by sticking the end of a small flat-blade screwdriver into the connector and wiggling it a bit.
