Following this one with interest. One has to admire the sheer lunacy of spending 20 times more than the original car is worth in order to make it perform in a half decent fashion. I doff my cap to you gentlemen.

Ha, funny you should say that
Have a couple of Mini Clubmans and a 911 Turbo in the project box
Mini has been lowered at the front to make the stance look a little better, then new motor, removable magnets and new wheels
911 will have a new chassis, new wheels, rear axle to fit the arches and a new motor

Some have been refurbing this least fashionable triumph TR model for quite a while, putting far more in than they will ever get out.
1:1 TR7s are now pulling good prices but it's taken decades to get to that.
One benefit of the unfashionable Slot.IT chassis is that I can fit another body to it at some point in the future.
Adjustable wheelbase makes the HRS2 suitable for almost any body.
I don't know of any other racer still working with HRS2, everything's gone 3D

I like look of "minilite" wheels reminiscent of the 1:1 yellow car above and came across these
Shame they are in Spain . Shame they are in plastic.
Worst case scenario is that I could chop them into wheel trims for deep dish alloys (NSR) wheels.
Munter on the Aussie forum does Minilite inserts and postage from New Zealand is cheap. Most of my classic touring cars run his inserts.

Amazing how memories can be created and distorted in your own mind.
Clearly this car is not the one I remember receiving when I was young.
1980 it is. So I have even less concern that I'm butchering a real old classic.
