More to the point are you going to contemplate a new track ?

I'm keeping this bit which was bridging the unused door opening!
   
I'm leaving the rest as it's a fresco which is now fading and flaking nicely. I understand that our buyer intends to make the room into a second bathroom so the priceless art will disappear until rediscovered in the far future where the art historians will puzzle over the artist who had a total lack of fame, with no other artwork recorded apart, possibly,  from one painted wooden panel whose provenance is in dispute.

The new track design will depend on the place we buy. There will be one of course!

I’ve moved and rebuilt my track or a new track 4 times in the last 10 years. I feel your pain, however I use it as an excuse to have fun with a new version ;)

I've been pretty much absent lately as the house move and associated rubbish clearance and packing has taken most of our time. On top of that, the track is gone and I no longer have a workshop so no slot car stuff is going on.

We now have moving dates. Sale here is the 1st June and purchase the 3rd.

How soon after that I can start the new track is anyone's guess as there is quite a bit to do in the new place. I've decided to take the bits of the old track in case I need to get a track together quickly.

What i'm going to need at some stage is someone who knows about timing and lap counting. I've looked, read, been advised and remained totally confused about the whole thing. Being told it's easy is no help when you think that electronics are basically magic.

I suspect that, once a track is up and running, there will be a holiday with free accommodation available in Normandy!

Sit down and work out how it will all be wired up. 

Arduino: buy, fit it in a box and upload the code to make it work
Gantry : design, build and fit led emitters 
Start line: fit optical sensors into the track.
Laptop : get one   then load race coordinator 
Spend time learning the software

This is just the sort of advice I've been offered in the past. I even bought a PC laptop and have the software  It hasn't been used of course.

It's no good! I look at stuff that people whose minds work that way say are simple and it could be Martian for all I understand it.

Bottom. The house is near a small village called Heusse.  Easy to get to, only an hour or so to the ports in one direction and about 40 minutes from Alencon on the road south to Le Mans.
