The following year, 2007 I bought this Scalextric Police Range Rover. I' pretty sure this would have been a new model then. I bought a boxed brand new one, but also got hold of one from the drift set with the Gallardo that had the 360 dogs spinning guide and this one got used a lot on the track as it was brilliant fun having chases where the police car could go in both directions and do U turns. I think the bodies on both were identical, just different chassis for the different guide blades.

TheRange Rover is tons of fun and is still a regular on my track even after all these years. It's relatively fast (considering it's bulk) and handles quite nicely too.

Another year and another police car, this time it's a Scalextric Polizei BMW, and another one that's great fun on the track. I'm a big fan of the Scalextric BTCC cars from this era so this runs about the same as the BTCC BMWs.

I also picked up this Carrera Fire Chief Mustang. At this time I was regularly buying Carrera boxed brand new cars for between £15 and 20, at least £5 cheaper than Scalextric cars.

I also bought 2 of what I now know to be v1 Scalextric Police Rovers. Not sure why I bought 2, they must have been cheap, or in a job lot. One was definitely a better example than the other.

2008 was a strong year for Scalextric Vauxhall Vectra purchases too.

The Marshall trio have remained boxed/unused but the red and the white Police ones get regular outings on the track, as can be seen from the rub marks on the rear bumper of the Kent Police Vectra. Yes, it's nice and slidey and that rear end is often in contact with the barriers.
I also bought a boxed Ninco VW Golf. This has got a slower motor that most Scalextric cars but it's still good fun to whizz around the track/autobahn.

The first Rover's front tire has aged just right. The cracks look like it would make a great desert diorama. An abandonded vehicle in the middle of a desert half covered in sand. Perfect!

Richard, Nice find.  Thumbup

Great stuff Richard, I always think that the Vectras are strangely ignored. perhaps its because the 1:1 cars were so popular, but then one would think that that would have increased sales.

Thanks chaps, plenty more to come..!

On to my 2009 purchases, and I got the Carrera Mustang Highway Patrol to match the Fire Chief one. Again stupidly cheap brand new compared to how much they go for now.

And I got a much better example of the Sierra Police car, this time still white as Scalextric intended. No wing mirrors though, but at least on this one they're not snapped off!

Scalextric released this Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia car, so I bought one. It's stayed in its box ever since.

I added a Ninco Mercedes CLK F1 safety car to the collection

And a new boxed Scalextric Mercedes SLR pace car

I also got hold of a cheap unboxwed Scalextric Subaru Police car. A bit grubby and spoiler glued back on but it was for the track so didn't matter. Disappointed with how it ran so didn't get used a lot.

And back to some more Rovers. Firstly this , which has to be one of the most bonkers choices of slot car ever, the Scalextric Coastguard Range Rover. I've kept it on its box, I reckon this is either going to be worth mega bucks in the distant future because not that many were made (they can't be a popular choice Shirley?), or it will be worthless because no one wants them. Only time will tell...

I also got hold of a couple more Scalextric Police Rover 3500s, this time a less easy to find boxed (but possibly not original box, but at least in very nice condition) version 2, and very tatty version 3

On to 2010 and going alphabetically I'll start with a Scalextric Alfa Romeo 159

Next a couple of Corvettes, this is a Fly Safety Car:

and this Ninco Highway Patrol Car, bought when they were released from a local swapmeet and I've not seen another one since.

This carrera Dodge Charger SRT is a lovely car, like many Carrera car bought about that time I only paid about £20, popped it on the track and had lots of fun with it. It's nice a fast and stable but does like to coast into the bends so it's hard to judge braking. I unfortunately had a high speed 'hitting the wall at the end of my longest straight at full speed' incident, which made a bit of a mess of it and broke the bull bars, roof lights and rear spoiler off. Of course they're now getting quite expensive, and I've been on the look out for a brand new boxed one to keep but they're all oa bit pricey and seem to be getting dearer.

Another US Highway police car, this time a Ninco Hummer. Not used this, it's still in the box, but I've got the identical yellow one that I often use on my track and absolutely love it. The tiny suspension damper things are awesome and it's great seeing it lean into the bends.

I got this trio of Ninco Pajeros super cheap from the bargain bin of somewhere like Pendles, only about £15 each I seem to remember.

I also got another Scalextric Subaru Police car for very little money, this one had a better uncracked body than the other one, but the wrong spoiler. I made up a good one from the two and sold the other one on eBay.

And I picked up this very nice looking Carrera Porsche 911 Polizei
