Performance Improvements for the New SCX 1955 LeMans MGA
#11

Chris - thanks for all the chassis pics.  I've been studying them and they given me some ideas to try in my quest for a chassis design that will work for narrow cars.  I have a number of resin and static kits I've accumulated; all narrow track cars; mostly British sportscars, that I want to move forward on.

The motor brackets shown for the FF050 motor, you described as "fabricated", are they made by you or are they available commercially?  They look they would work well for early Grand Prix cars.

Hi Bob, The motor brackets  on my chassis above are a mix of "fabricated", and store bought.

BWA did make some really nice narrow brackets for the FF050 motors, but these are all gone,..maybe one of your club members or someone here might have one or two to spare  Sun.

There are a couple of commercially made brackets available, and , although they are made for 1/24 cars, they are for 1/24 F1 cars, and are narrow enough to work just fine for most sports cars and some F1 cars.

RGEO makes a 3/4 wide F1 bracket that accepts 3/16 x 3/32 single flanged bushings....RGEO-355. This bracket has holes drilled to accept FC-130 motors, but without drilling new holes, it  will not accept FF050 motors..........unless you solder them in !!

JK also makes a 1" wide bracket, also for single flanged bushings, and it as well has holes for the FC-130 motors.

For FF050 motors ABSlotsport has a "Micro" bracket that is very narrow, and is drilled for FF050 motors. This bracket comes in 3 pieces (it must be soldered), and, is designed to allow for "offset" or "nonoffset" configurations.

ABslotsport (UK) carries both his and the JK brackets, and  if he does not have the RGEO brackests these are available from PCH Slot parts, and others.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Chris Walker
