October's purchase.

Just LOVE this car. The original is so outrageous, particularly in this colour scheme, plus I love MSC's 1/32 engineering.
(Although their QC leaves a bit to be desired. More on that later and in another thread.)

In fact I liked it so much I couldn't resist this eBay bargain.  Bought knowing it was missing one wiper, so this second one is probably destined to be the racer and the original to become the shelf queen.

The Wye Valley Slot Rally Proxy was a perfect excuse to pick up a pair of Ninco cars to send...

The Lancia 037 was new, but a really good price. The Subaru looks barely run and was £20. I wanted the Impreza as it is Petter Solberg's 2006 Rally Wales GB car, which I thought was apt. And I've always loved that particular 037 - the Chardonnet cars were always classy. Both have been prepared for racing and the Subaru has new rear wheels. I have no idea how they'll go on the ten Wye Valley tracks, but I'm really looking forward to following them at the event. Whatever happens.

I've taken lots of 'before' pictures, because I don't expect them to be quite the same when they return... They will be full of the character of competition and covered in battle scars. I like slot cars that way.

Bought a Racer Sideways Toyota Celica Gr5. Not sure why as I already have 3 other cars for our club class.

I wasn't very impressed with the quality of assembly. The chassis was screwed down so hard that the front wheels were seized solid because they were jammed against the body and this combined with pod screws which had been screwed up way too tight had distorted the chassis so the car wouldn't sit squarely on all 4 wheels. Fortunately the chassis straightened out once I had undone all the screws and cleared out the holes for the pod screws and it seem fine now although I haven't run it yet.

It was easy for me to sort out the problems but if a non-enthusiast who was looking to upgrade from Scalex cars had bought it they would have been very disappointed and would probably have returned it.
The problems Policar experienced with assembly quality on the Ferrari 312 B2 and the problems with my Sideways Toyota make me wonder if the Chinese factories are cutting corners while it is almost impossible for anyone from outside China to pay them a visit to check out quality control.

Another word of warning - If you change the braids don't put the wires into the guide in front of the braid as it will foul the front of the body when the guide moves. The wires need to go behind the braid and you need the minimum amount of lead possible ahead of the front axle to prevent the loops of lead fouling on the body when the guide turns.

Was thinking that as I posted the post too. Can't wait to see how they race, no shelf queens for these ones.
