Hi
Not sure this is the right place but my 2.5yr old is obsessed with Toy Story and Star Wars (he’s a bit young for SW but likes the space planes!!)
There are several vehicles available in Scalextric Micro for both and was wondering if it’s possible to convert to run on normal Scalextric track?
Looking at pics of the guides on the Micro’s it’s a pin rather than blade and the braids look a bit wide.
Thought I’d ask before I buy a few for him to whizz around
Thanks

As they are, they will be a bit disappointing on 1/32 scale Scalextric track - mostly because the braids (and magnets) are set too wide. The older cars do have a metal guide pin, which is likely to short the track rails - but cars from around 2001-ish had a plastic pin, which is okay-ish... but there's still the chance of shorting with the braids trailing. It'll need some very careful tweaking of those braids!
To be honest, grabbing some old-style (1996-2017) Micro track would be the best solution to get the most out of these cars for a youngster. A go-kart style track next to your 1/32 layout will be a blast! Sets can be found for £5 to £10 at bootfairs or Facebook marketplace - eBay is usually a lot more. There's a great 18-foot layout that came out in sets like Pro Rally and a decent 14-foot layout in a whole load of others like Mini Mania. And there's nice coloured track in the Toy Story set.

I think I have some of the Star Wars ones you mean. There is a guide blade plate that actually has a small wedge/flag. It provides minuscule better handling in the standard slot.
By putting in slightly longer braids you tweak them to touch. I also use thinner ones as the ground clearance is also tighter.
If memory serves they are also wires the other way round meaning the cars will go the "wrong" direction easily rectified by swapping the rear axle round.
As Woodcote noted the magnets will not work well so keeping the speed down is a good idea. Easily done with the ARC APP or if you can get a transformer that steps down the power OR if you have the latest controllers that have speed limiters built in. You could glue in more magnets but there is not much space in there!
It is all possible but the amount of second hand track around means it is also cheap and easy to get and run, just as Woodcote says...
