Prototype images of their new BMW M4 GT3 mould have just been released by Racer Sideways. With a reference number SWCAR08, a code name of 'German B.4 GT3' and a release date sometime in 2023, the M4 will join a growing grid of Racer Sideways GT3 and GTE cars, including the BMW M6 GT3, which the M4 replaced in the real world in 2021...
Like the road car it is based on, the M4 GT3 had a very distinctive 'face' - one that fans seems to either love or hate. I prefer it on the racing version. A successful factory-run testing and race programme in 2021 was followed by the new BMW race car being made available to BMW customer teams for the start of the 2022 season. The new car has proved popular, appearing - and winning - in DTM and most other GT3-based series around the world...
The Sideways mould attempts to capture the shape and stance of the original - and although it's always difficult to judge from a white body, they seems to have done a decent job...
Those wheels aren't the ones for the car - the M4 uses 18-inch wheels - and they do should definitely fill the arches much more. Going on previous Sideways GT models, I'd expect the roof to be squished a bit, but the rake of the windscreen and rear window look passable. I'm not sure the front of the car is quite as muscular as it should be, but that might change when painted...
The dimensions of the real BMW M4 GT3 should scale down to a 1:32 scale model like this...
- Length: 156.9mm
- Width: 63.75mm
- Height: 40.875mm
- Wheelbase: 91.2mm
I'd expect a painting competition to be announced as soon as the white kit is ready to ship. Pattos Place already have a raft of M4 decal sheets to get you started - although most are M6 liveries to fit on the Pattos M4 GT3 lexan body. I'm sure Bruce will add authentic 2022 schemes as the Aussie winter drags on.
There may be a wait while the other new Sideways GT cars are produced, but I'll post any more news about the BMW here.
