Goodwood looking for volunteers to join their events team
#1

The Goodwood Revival, Festival of Speed and GRRC Members' Meeting all rely on a small army of volunteers to run the events. From paddock marshals to grandstand stewards, buggy drivers and event 'ambassadors' giving unique Goodwood flavour to the weekends - there are plenty of roles to fill and always the opportunity to enjoy the event from a completely different perspective. Quite a few of my club mates at WHO Racing have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved over the past few years - and the Goodwood Events Team are keen to invite more members of the slot car community to join in.

The events this year are:
  • 9 - 10 April 2022 - 79th Members' Meeting
  • 23 - 26 June 2022 - Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard
  • 16 - 18 September 2022 - Goodwood Revival
And these are the practicalities:

  • Any time outside of the shift is yours to catch all of the action, explore the event and soak up the atmosphere
  • Parking is available and, for those who live over 30 miles away, a camping pitch will be offered on site
  • You will be provided with a lunch bag and water whilst on your volunteer shift
  • You will be required to undertake one 6 hour unpaid shift, either AM or PM, over each event day
  • Roles available include Grandstand Stewards, Paddock Marshals, Mobility Buggy Drivers and Event Ambassadors
  • Volunteers will be required to have a fully-refundable deposit taken, equal to the value of an adult weekend ticket (£121-£190 depending on event), to prevent people gaining entry with their wristband and not arriving for their shifts! Providing that all shifts have been completed, the deposit will be returned at Staff HQ at the end of the last volunteering shift
  • Please take into account that the rural location of the Goodwood Estate and lack of access by public transport means that having your own transport is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the events, volunteers aged 16-17 will need to be accompanied by someone 18 or older.

If you're interested, then register as a Goodwood volunteer here or complete the full application form - stating which event you would like to volunteer at. The Events Team will then contact you nearer the time.
