VIP were a very early manufacturer of slot cars and predated Scalextric. Malcolm Parker had a nearly complete collection of their stuff and wrote a comprehensive history of the firm. He disappeared long ago after selling his collection to Phil Smith but the history is preserved on Phil's server. You won't find it on his website but here is a LINK if you would like to check it out.

This is a fun class of car to drive in our club. The 3.0L GP class with a Scalex 050 motor is fast and loose.

All Matra's were light blue. They must have run out of blue paint that day... This one is Tamiya Camel Yellow.

Plans for the chassis.

The chassis completed and test fitted.

Body, engine, and transmission painted. Tires and wheels glued and trued.

I stumbled across this Strombecker Chaparral body at a flea market. It was very sun faded so I took it apart to paint it.

Tamiya Candy Lime green was the colour of choice.

Chassis material marked, scribed, drilled, and scrap cut away.

Chassis assembled, and ready for the body.

Original driver separated from the old interior and then repainted.

Interior card cut and installed.

Driver and original stacks for the injectors were glued in place. The interior is back to normal.

The chassis is mounted back to the body.

Decals added.

Thank you very kindly for looking.

Hi all.
Received my new Policar Ferrari 312 over the weekend and, having read how brilliant these cars were compared to Scalextric 60s/70s F1, I eagerly unpacked the car and rushed up to the track cabin.  Put the car on the track, pressed the trigger and.....disappointment!

Lots of whirring and spinning of wheels and no forward movement!  Now, I hadn't bothered to check if there was a magnet or not, but assumed there must be, though not mentioned in the reviews.  Nope!

Back on the track, pressed the trigger and....same result.  Had a closer look and - see for yourselves from the photos.  Anyone else had this problem?  How to fix it?  Grind away the plastic (it supports the exhausts)  Larger tyres? How the heck do I chip this one?

Cheers
Chas

Hi,

As there will no slot racing in Abergavenny for the foreseeable future.

We will be holding our Winter Slot rally event as a proxy event.

There will be 10 stages ranging from Scalextric Classic, Ninco Raid, Ninco Snow, Ninco tarmac and MDF.

There are 3 Classes :-

Classic

80’s

Modern.

I will post the full rules ASAP.

Phil.

Hey,
My name is michel and I live in Bertem (Belgium).
I started slotracing 15 years ago because of my son. He had started  at the local club with a friend of him from school, and I and I drove him there every week, but got hooked op by the hobby.
I have now been the chairman of this club for 10 years and we do a slotrace fair every year.
We mainly drive 1/32 with us at the club (slot racers Leuven).
