WHO Nascar & Gen6 Cup Race Night - Wednesday 3 August - Round 8 of the 2020-22 WHO club championship
Regulations can be found here: https://www.whoracing.org.uk/rules.html
We'll be running on this historic Nascar speedway, including a bit of infield to notch up the mayhem...
Doors open at 6.30pm - please don’t arrive earlier (unless you’re part of the set-up crew, of course) and we ask that all racers aged 12 or younger bring a responsible adult with them.
Race fees: £3 adults and £2 under-16s. We now have a pre-pay option - ask Terry for details.
Club Cars & Controllers: Our AFX Mega-G+ club cars are available – each of them stays on its coloured lane. We also have a big box of DS, Parma and Ninco loaner controllers to borrow one for the whole evening. There is no extra charge for using either the club cars or the controllers.
Covid precautions: Covid cases are rather high again - 1 in 17 people ten days ago. We’ll be keeping our usual common-sense precautions in place to keep vulnerable members of the extended WHO family safe. The main thing is to stay away if you have any symptoms that could be Covid. Inside the Barn, wearing a face mask, practising good hand-hygiene and giving each other space are non-negotiable requirements. We will ensure as good ventilation as possible - and also have hand sanitiser and spare masks available if you forget your own. Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
As always, post-race coverage will be posted here through the day next Thursday.

I have been fortunate to pick up 2 models in recent months of these iconic cars.
Shadow Racing Cars was a F1and can am team, founded and initially based in the United States although later Formula One operations were run from the British base in Northampton
The company was founded by Don Nichols in California in 1968 as "Advanced Vehicle Systems"; the cars were called Shadows, designed by Trevor Harris and entered under the Shadow Racing Inc. banner. The first Shadows, the Mk 1s were entered in the Can AM series with George Follmer and Vic Elford driving them. The Mk.1 featured an innovative design, using very small wheels for low drag and, although the car was quick, it was not the most reliable car in the field
The team became more competitive the following year, replacing the Harris car with a Peter Bryant design owing some elements to his Ti22 "titanium car" with Jackie Oliver also arriving from this effort and finishing eighth in the CanAm championship. The team also found some financial backing from Universal Oil Products (UOP).
Shadow came to dominate the shortened 1974 series, although by this point they were competing largely against privateers, the works McLaren and Porsche efforts having left the series.
Towards the end of 1972, Nichols announced that he was entering his team into F1 with UOP sponsored cars designed by , Tony Southgate who had designed the BRM that gaveJean-Pierre Beltoise victory in Monaco the previous year.
The team debuted in Formula One at the 1973 SA GP with the Shadow DN 1 chassis. Two cars were available for drivers Oliver and Follmer, as well as aPrivate Entry for Graham Hill who ran his car under theEmbassy Hill banner.
For 1974, the team hired two of the most promising drivers of the time: American Peter Revson and Frenchman Jean-Pierre Jarrier During a practice run for the 1974 SA GP Revson was killed by a suspension failure on his DN3. He was replaced by Tom Pryce.

Matra-powered DN7 driven by JP Jarrier as a one-off during the 1975 Austrian GP
The new DN 5 driven by Jarier gained pole position in the two first Grands Prix of the 1975 season but suffered mechanical failure in both races. The DN5 and most other Shadow Formula One cars used Ford Cosworth DFV engines, which produced around 490 bhp. However, later in 1975, another car was driven by Jarier, the DN 7 , and was fitted with a Matra v12 producing around 550 bhp. The wheelbase was substantially lengthened to accommodate the much larger and more expensive French powerplant, although due to budgetary issues, the Matra-powered DN7 was doomed as a one-off. Jarier's new teammate, Pryce, won the non-championshipRace of Champions that same year. Pryce died in an accident involving a marshal at the 1977 SA GP The marshal, Frederick Jansen Van Vuuren, had been running across the track to put out a small fire on the other Shadow car and Pryce was unable to avoid the collision because he was un-sighted behind the March of Hans Stuck. Pryce struck Van Vuuren at speed and was hit on the head and killed by the fire extinguisher Van Vuuren was carrying. Before Pryce's car finally came to a stop it hit Jaccques Lafitte's Ligier resulting in both cars crashing into the barriers. Van Vuuren's injuries were so severe that he could initially only be identified by his absence from a marshal's meeting after the accident.
The team replaced Pryce with Alan Jones, who won the team's only Grand Prix at the Austrian GP the same year. (Kyalami was not a good place for Shadow)
The DN9 was copied by Arrows before a court order banned Arrows from racing their version, the FA/1
I picked up this wonderful piece of work in Italy built by DP slot - so cannot give any background on make of manufacture etc.
THis arrived a few days ago. I mssed it when it was released and never thought I would get one.
Will add pics once built.
