Hi all, I’m new to slot cars and basically looking for any advice anyone can offer on a track that I’ve designed. Space restrictions inhibit me to no more than 16ft by 7ft. I’m using Scalextric 1:32 scale digital as 6 cars racing will be ample! My biggest question is whether or not the Xlc’s are positioned in the best places - I’d have an xlc before the hairpin but I’m planning to use side swipes. Maybe this needs to change
G'day everyone (yes, another bloody Aussie)
I got into slot cars around 2008, raced (if you can call it that) for a couple of years with a local 'club', built a couple of routed tracks.
Fell out of the hobby until around 2019 when after a house move my son saw the boxes of slot stuff and said it was a waste sitting in the shed. So after house renos etc making a house our home, I built my current track.
Now I have a 3d resin printer I have found the satisfaction of creating my own scenery items and figures and I'm learning how to paint them...
So I've come back to the hobby with a new enthusiam and looking around the internet, found this site.
Hope to be able to contribute.
Cheers,
Dick
I have just bought a Pioneer Dodge Charger ( I just like the look ?) it won’t arrive for a few days and I am wondering if pioneer come with magnets fitted ? They don’t seem a popular make but it’s just for a bit of fun. Feel free to tell me they are great/ average/rubbish !
Hi All,
I am getting a set of bodies that fit the Aurora T-Jet chassis.
I don't have them and they are rare in Germany.
I looked at ebay and I am always a bit shy about buying stuff there.
Does anyone have a few chassis they are willing to part with?
I have EU and USA shipping addresses and can use PayPal to pay in pretty much any currency.
Please PM me with offers.
Much appreciated!

In the 1970s use of the word computer had quite a different, more literal meaning: it was something you used to work things out.
This Scalextric Speed Computer was used to scale up the lap time of your slot car into a 'real' speed. The reverse side had all the available track pieces with eth length of each lane. Kids were expected to find arithmetic undaunting back then.
I think I probably used it once or twice, but I've kept it for 50 odd years.
With one old classic in the Rally Slotting Proxy designed for tarmac rallies and seeing loads of TR7's on here and FB pages I thought it was time to drag the old girl from under the pile of 'projects-for-the-future'
The #1 thing I want this to be capable of is handling bumpy offroad plastic track that the Jag isn't designed for.
A few hours of 3D CAD and the bare bones of a modified design later with a set of push on plastic wheels to check wheelbase and fit and sill height...it needs tweaking and other ideas have come out to modify it further but it's a start.
3D printed chassis and pod...might be amalgamated into a one-piece chassis/pod
I just go the LeMans C1404T set and am enjoying it so far. I'm sure it'll be even better when I add some more track to it. Can't really get the cars going to fast as is.
Speaking of track I realize that the set comes with extra long straights (C8505) and 90 degree R2 (C8529). Near as I can tell you can't buy these outside of a set. I was about to toss the box the set came in and store it in a plastic bin only to find the straights don't fit ;-(. I have to search for a new, larger bin I guess. I wonder why they did this. Is it to save on costs? Make it easier for beginners to assemble layouts? I suppose they are handy and good for bridges, but otherwise harder to store.
I stumbled on the Fray and watched a bunch of videos today. Those things look much faster than the T-Jets I ran in my basement track. Mine were from Model Motoring I believe, which I think are stock or close to stock. I understand that the Fray cars are tuned with lots of aftermarket parts I think. My question here is how much faster are they compared to stock. Some example lap times on a given track would make it more clear to me. Also, do the Fray cars have more down force due to different magnets and lowering of the frame / chassis?
Thanks
Just wondering which out of the box makes go well on a wooden track ? My Racer and Slit-it are both fine, just wondering about Team Slot and Ninco ? Ta
I just got my first set - C1404T. Really liking it so far, but need more track to get the cars going ;-)
Is buying a second analog set a good way to get cars and track less expensively? I've done this in the past with HO Tyco stuff. The smaller Scalextric sets don’t look to come with many straights which is one hesitation I have. I guess having extra analog power station and controllers is also a waste, but I could keep them as a spare or sell them?
Tracks on eBay don't seem to be much cheaper than the expansion sets I see on Amazon, unless I'm missing something.
I'm assuming the cheapest route is to find somebody selling used track on eBay?
Thanks.
