Slot Cars

- NSR Catalogue 2022 The big slot car unveiling this week came out of Salerno in Italy. The 2022 NSR catalogue is packed full of excellent new liveries, plus the new McLaren GT3 model – and hints of an forthcoming electronic controller. You can discover more in the forum.

- Slot.it Classic DTM New Releases The next cars due from Slot.it are this pair of classic DTM racers. The first is Roland Asch’s race-winning Mercedes 190E from the 1990 Yellow Pages 200 DTM invitational race at Kyalami. The second is the Opel Calibra that Oliver Gavin drove at the Mugello ITC weekend in 1996.

- BRM Ford Escort Mk1 Available at the end of this month are two new 1:24 scale Escorts from BRM. The Gulf livery is from the 2013 European hill climb race at Eschdorf in Luxembourg and the lilac car a model of the Erik Berger Racing Escort that raced in Sweden. We have full coverage of the 2022 BRM range in the News section of the forum.

- Erik Berger Racing Escort Sometimes there’s a fascinating little-known story behind a slot car – and this lilac-coloured Escort is one of them! Woodcote has dug deep into Swedish websites to discover more about local legend Erik Berger and the short-lived Dalsland Ring circuit.

- NSR McLaren 720S GT3 The new GT racer from NSR is on its way. Expected first as a kit and then as painted and assembled ‘test car’ liveries, there are also four authentic liveries expected later in the year. You can follow the development progress of this new model in the News section of the forum.

- Lotus 19 George Turner has released a kit of Dan Gurney’s 1962 Daytona winning Lotus 19. Even though it is a small car it still has a full interior thanks to its anglewinder set up.

- Revoslot Porsche 911 GT2 Rothmans Packaged separately and in this limited edition twin pack are two cool Rothmans liveries on the Revoslot Porsche 911 GT2. These pay homage to Japanese Porsche tuner Akira Nakari and his RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF company – famous for their custom wide body kits on classic Porsches. The cars are expected a little later this year and are available for pre-order.
Slot Car Racing

- World Championship After ten tough rounds of the World Championship Slot Car Proxy 2021, the winner was crowned. Cgyracer took the honours from a field of 24 racers, with an impressive four wins and eight podiums.

Tuning

- Looking for some tools? This is an area where you can spend quite a bit of money and end up with huge amounts of kit. In the Slot Racer’s Manual, we’re heading in the opposite direction – travelling light and keeping down the costs. That’s not going to be too difficult, as a fairly basic toolkit will suit most people quite nicely. Take a look in the Slot Racer’s Manual.
Tracks & Scenery
- Flat Over Crest You may have noticed that we’re big fans of Hub’s Flat Over Crest rally track. There’s lot more to see in the Member’s Tracks section of the website, but this video is a perfect introduction.

- Conington Park Brian’s track contains some great scenic details, recreating some of the iconic elements of Donington Park. The latest addition is Starkey’s Bridge, complete with the viaduct, the gantry, and a 3d printed Blue Star Rocket car.
- Silverstone Timekeeper’s Hut Frank-Peter has been working on this scratch-built timekeeper’s hut – and he celebrates its completion with a great video showcasing his fabulous car and scenic creations. We hope to see much more of Frank-Peter’s work on the forum under the name of Scuderia Frapego Motori.
Publications

- Slot marks its big 5-0 Slot magazine has just published its 50th edition – an impressive landmark for this UK-based publication. There’s plenty of interesting articles, including images of some 2022 Scalextric prototypes. You can read the full contents page over in ePilot’s regularly-updated ‘Magazines’ thread on the forum.
Cars

- Fangio’s Mercedes The stunning Mercedes 300 SL given to Formula 1 legend Juan Manuel Fangio as a retirement present from Mercedes, is going up for auction. The – almost – priceless convertible, finished in metallic light blue with cream leather seats, was gifted to the Argentinian by the Stuttgart marque upon his retirement from racing in 1958.You might need to save a few week’s pocket money to buy it though.

- Singer’s latest Porsche Inspired by the original Porsche 930, this latest re-imagination in carbon-fibre is referred to by Singer as the Turbo Study. Like all their creations, this is ridiculously high-end stuff with mouth-watering engineering and styling. You can see and read more on the Petrolicious website.

- Qatar International Rally 2022 Surprisingly no Sébastien Loeb for this one – maybe he was having a weekend off?
