This week’s Digest features four Ferraris, several Fords, a couple of Volkswagens, an MGB, and a Chaparral. Plus we’ve got a myriad of magazines, all the latest events, some slot car chat, and videos from Fly & Carrera.
Slot Cars
- Avant Slot Arrivals The eagerly awaited Avant Slot Ford Transit rally service vans, and VW Golfs should be with your favourite retailers now. The Transits are only available in limited numbers.
- MGB GT Kit Build Pete Shepherd of Racing Replicas has built this Pendle Slot Racing kit of the MGB GT. I have no idea if the copper colour is historically authentic, but it certainly suits the car.
- BRM Ferrari 512 & Porsche 917 BRM have previewed two new 1/24th scale models due in the 2nd half of February. The Ferrari 512M was driven to 3rd place in the 24H Daytona 1971 by Donohue & Hobbs, and the Porsche 917K won the 24H Daytona 1971 driven by Rodriguez & Oliver.
- Revoslot Ferrari F40 Slot Cars Passion have published photos of the three new Ferrari F40 liveries that Revoslot are releasing. The cars are expected at the end of February.
- Ken Block Cars The Area 71 Slotcars have announced three new Ken Block models in 1/32 and 1/24 scales. Only 150 units will be produced in each scale.
- Chaparral 2D Pendle Slot Racing has announced a new kit which is expected in February or March. The Chaparral 2D is the car raced at Le Mans in 1966 by Phil Hill and Jo Bonnier.
Magazines
- Magazines If you are looking for some reading material, then the Magazines thread is an excellent place to get started. It has now been going for two years and lists almost every slot car and railway magazine published in that time. What’s more, all the links are now indexed, so there is a handy list of around 200 magazines.
- The Library Another great source for reading material is of course The Library, which has over 200 catalogues and magazines covering the entire history of our hobby. These are the publications that have shaped and promoted our hobby for 60 years.
