KTiming Gantry Wiring

Photo-cells used to count and time laps are sensitive to the infra-red portion of the light spectrum. Normal incandescent room lights contain a sufficient amount of infra-red light for most applications.

KIf you would prefer to provide a pure source of infra-red light you may build a timing gantry to span your race track at the point where the track photo-cells are installed.

KInfra-red light emitting diodes or IR LED devices can be purchased at any Radio Shack retail outlet for less than $2.00 a piece. Ask the clerk for RS Part No. 276-143. Purchase one IR LED for each lane on your raceway.

KThe wiring diagram below illustrates the necessary wiring and power supply needed to build your own timing light gantry.

The resistors in the diagram above are connected to the Cathode side of the infra-red LED devices.

KYou may also purchaseCable Order Form a complete HO Timing Gantry Kit including all of the electronic components and the 12 VDC power supply needed to construct your own timing gantry. Secure on-line credit card purchases can be made by using the Help | Purchase Interface Cables menuHelp Menu command.
