Nürburgring layouts
#1

Hi,

I'm a new in to slot car racing and searching for Nürburgring layouts to scalextric digital track. I would like to setup the track with 2 lanes and for 6 cars.

All advice and tips are appreciated.

Hi Tobias  Wavegreen

We built this Nürburgring-inspired track for our Scalextric digital event before Christmas...

It was great to drive on!

Jason might have a Nürburgring design tucked away somewhere.

Hi,

Thanks for inspiration, do you have specs which parts I need to be able to build this track? Which space would you say I need for this track?

The lap length is 35.05 metres and the space covered by the layout is 13 metres x 4 metres - so quite big!

I will try and find the parts list and detailed plan for you.

The corners are mostly Radius 3 and Radius 4, with Radius 2s around the hairpin. A smaller version could be built using smaller radius curves and shorter straights. What space do you have available?

Hi,

I'm beginner in to slot car racing and appreciate your support. The room are 10*5 square meters. I need have som space so in reality I can use 7*3 square meters.

Do you know if I can buy the layout to my space limitations If you don't find your specifications?

Welcome Tobias.

The only Nürburgring layout I have is the the full Nordschleife, which would be too big and not very practical.

But we could draw you up a design for your space, no problem.

Hi Jason,

As you probably understand I'm totally new in to slot car racing and the space for the track are length 7 meters and width 3 meters. Do you think Nurnburg is suitable to start with?

My plan is to drive digital model with 2 tracks and 6 cars and depo. Is it possible with my lack of experience?

How much is it for a suitable layout? Do you also have tip on which 6 equal cars I should buy and from where?

Oh how I would love to see that build, forget too big and not practical...build it and invite..I'll come to race as will many others.
Would have to be a team race though...with the team spread along the 625m long track...hmmm ok maybe that is a bit to big  Rofl

But if Gary and Alex can shrink the 1:32 scale Circuit de la Sarthe from 425m to 70m without loosing the specific Le Mans atmosphere...... Wrench

with kind regards

Hi Tobias.

I think Nürburgring could make a good slot track, but personally I would advise you to start small, and work up to it. It can take a while to find out what you like in a track design, so if you're trying to plan a permanent layout, you really need to give yourself some time driving and racing to find out what works for you.

Here's a layout that would fit your space, being 7.02 x 2.97m, including borders.

I think it's a reasonable approximation of the real track layout, but there are a couple of things which some people wouldn't like. First, there are several tight R1 corners which can cause deslots, so with six cars on track that could be disruptive. Second, there is no long straight.

Here's one that avoids most of the R1 corners.

But honestly, rather than concentrating on your final destination, I'd suggest looking at the first steps of your journey to begin with. Maybe buy a simple starter set. Have a bit of fun, learn about it all. You'll soon want to add more track and more cars, but you can build it up gradually and hopefully avoid making expensive mistakes. There is a learning curve involved in this hobby, which is all part of the fun.

So, unless you're absolutely set on having a finished product right now, I would suggest taking a little time to learn the basics and find out what works for you.

Tamar, I'll just contact the builders to see when they can quadruple the size of my house, and as soon as that's done the invites will be going out.
