Carrera Evolution cars - Nov 2019
#1

The final Carrera Evolution releases to reach the UK in 2019 will be here at the end of November. Then it's a long two-month wait until the 2020 range is revealed at Spielwarenmesse in Nuremburg on 29 January.

Carrera Evolution CA27610 Ferrari FXX K Evoluzione No.54

The Ferrari FXX K is an R&D vehicle and track day car based on the LaFerrari hybrid sports car. Powered by a 6.3 litre V12 normally-aspirated engine plus a 140 kW electric motor fed by KERS, the FXX K has a top speed of 217 mph and manages 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds. Only forty cars were produced and these were sold by invitation only and are 'looked-after' by Ferrari apart from specific track days.

The $5 million Evoluzione cars are lighter and have improved aerodynamics. You can experience the sights and sound of the FXX K with Top Gear on YouTube...

Thankfully, the Carrera version is available to anyone who wants one and costs only £39.99. Like the full-size car, it isn't street legal. This is a brand new model for 2019 - two Digital132 versions appeared earlier in the year and have proved popular.

Carrera Evolution CA27609 McLaren 720S GT3 No.03

This is another brand new car and should have arrived last month. The 720S GT3 has raced in various GT series around the world in 2019 as a customer car for private teams - Balfe Motorpsort scoring a notable victory with their 720S at the British GT Championship season finale at Donington last month. The Carrera model is launched in the official McLaren test livery that introduced the car to the world last autumn. It is a smashing livery on what looks a fabulous rendition of the car. RRP is £39.99.

Carrera Evolution CA27607 Porsche 911 RSR Porsche GT Team No.93

Yet another new model from Carrera - this up-to-date 911 RSR GTE body shape was also a little slow to arrive - this livery originally due in August. It is one of two Porsche GTE liveries produced that ran at the 2018 Le Mans 24 hour race, celebrating 70 years of Porsche sports cars. Piloted by Patrick Pilet, Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber the #93 car of the American Porsche GT Team ran consistently in the top three of the GTE Pro class during the afternoon and evening. A lengthy pit stop during the night to fix an electrical problem dropped them out of contention, but the team fought back to 27th place (twelfth in class) by the end of the 24 hours.

Carrera released a sister car - the Rothmans #91 - in October and it sold out very quickly. I'm certainly hoping for a 1/32 scale version of the 'Pink Pig' #92 car features in the 2020 catalogue. RRP is £39.99.

A big thank you to Pete at The Hobby Company Ltd for the pictures and release details. Only the Carrera Evolution cars are routinely distributed in the UK, but any product from the Carrera calalogue can be specially ordered by Carrera dealers via the Hobby Company Ltd.
