I'm into bodies
#1

People that know me from elsewhere, know that the expression 'balsa boy' refers to my favourite wood for making slot car bodies.

Here are a few that have been made over the last few years. As I only race a couple of times a year, I usually make the cars for a particular even and so the chassis get removed and the bodies left orphaned.

The last couple of shots are for this year's Bordo event in June so they actually do run! I'm doing another one as well. I've started trying to use plasticard as well as balsa. The red/pink truck is all plasticard. The black one I'm doing now is plasticard with just the top of the body made from balsa. All the rest, including the wings are made from flat plastic. Quite fun.

Hmm...that didn't quite go as intended.

I was inserting the pics and when I clicked insert into post, nothing appeared to happen so I clicked again and, without warning that the pic had already been used, gaily included two copies. I then tried to insert the others and it all got posted before I could do them all!! Just left thumbnails of the last few.

Thanks Jason......how do you delete a pic you don't want after the event?

Hopefully sorted.

I've done a little more to the roadster. Screen from double layer of plasticard. Hopefully, I have left enough of a rebate to get the glazing in. Headlights to make and then, when the paint is properly hard, mask it up and spray the body below the trim line in red.

Although not an exact copy, it is sort of inspired by this!

Red paint is on and the masking tape is off. A bit of bleed but very easy to touch in as it's on the raised trim line.

A few days wait whilst it all hardens off.

To keep myself busy, I'll do some more work to the Noddymobile. Can't understand why Don thought it wasn't suitable for Bordo Bigsmile Nice Dynamic frame and quick motor, it's a blast to drive.

It won't get raced as it's not as quick as the 'real' cars but it will definitely get a run just for fun. Hopefully the Buggy that was raced in January will be there and we can have a race!
