Long threads - can we jump to the end?
#1

When I click on a thread with a recent piost it takes me to the first page.  I then have the option to jump to the next page but not to the end.

Not a problem with most threads BUT recalls popular threads that run to 10 or more pages means a lot of bottom clicking to get to the end.

Can you add an “end” button or even set it so that clicking the thread takes you to the last page?  Otherwise you end up trawling through loads of pages you have already read to get to the newest contribution at the end.

Once some threads get over 20 pages I guess most people won’t bother.  The members new cars thread will easily get massive if other forums are anything to go by.

Or am I missing something?

PS I am viewing this on IOS most of the time.

I think you tap on the arrow next to the last posters name

There are several ways to do it.

If you're on the Recent Posts, or New Posts page, you should see a little green arrow next to the thread title. This will take you to the first new post in the thread.

More generally you can jump to the last post in a thread by clicking on the little arrow icon in the Last Post column, over on the right.

Or, for me on Windows 10, the first and last pages in a long thread are always shown. So for instance the page numbers in the painting figures thread go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... 15   if I'm at the start of the thread, or 1, ... 11, 12, 13 ,14, 15 if I'm on the last page.

Didn't know about the arrows so thanks - that’s helpful.

It looks like once threads get over a certain number of pages it automatically offers the last page on the listings - the figures and detailing thread offers page 15 and a drop-down to choose page number off the bat.  Threads with less than 10 pages only offer page 1 and a “next” button.

I was concerned what might happen with very long threads but it looks like it was my lack of knowledge and not the functionality

Thanks for the explanations  Cool
