Slot-related general chat section?
#1

Am I missing something, or does the forum not have an area for chit-chat which doesn't fit into any of the main forum categories?
For example, if I want to ask/discuss how others deal with (......or do they ever get) loss of enthusiasm for our hobby, where should I post it?

Best regards,
Stuart.

Hi Stuart,

Losing enthusiam often happens when someone gets dissapointed with something. Or many things.

Everyone needs a break once in a while. It helps to re-focus.

"What grinds your gears" might be a spot to ask why we all lose enthusiam from time to time. The important thing is that we find our way back.

Would like to see this thread take off in the right location
Kens idea of location seems logical.

To add to his response
...Or try something different.
I lost all enthusiasm for 1:32 slot cars a couple of years ago, seemed to be same, old same old.
Then I found 1:43 and had some ideas which I am following through on, am now reinvigorated.
Love to discuss more on appropriate thread.

Cheers Grant

Well, we do have an area for general chit chat, the Off Topic forum.
Obviously we didn't anticipate the need for a sub-forum dedicated to a dwindling enthusiasm for the hobby, Rofl but at the same time I'm sure we've all felt it at some point. Tappingfoot

It's part of the natural ebb and flow of things.

But maybe there is a case for a more general chat forum. We set out to be very focused on slot racing, but it's a shame when we lose touch with people just because they have lost interest in the hobby.

If there is any interest in a general interest thread, then let me know and we can set it it up.

One thing that I have found through the years that re-energizes me is sharing my knowledge and experience with someone new to the job/sport/hobby. Instead of just detailing yet another car, post a build thread for the rest of us to learn from. And instead of just posting about that one car, if it posed an interesting problem show us how you solved it and toss in pics with tips on how you handled similar issues on other cars. Don’t underestimate how valuable your experience and skills are to the rest of us.

Agreed = this is fine in the OFF Topic section - either in floats your boat of grinds your gears thread headings.

I too will add to this - let me know which you prefer and I can move it or if you prefer a new thread can be started.

Slot Related General Chat sounds perfect as the other threads mentioned aren't Slot related chats.

Evening gents. Wavegreen

Rather than start a new forum, I've actually moved this over to what is essentially a general slot related chat forum already, which covers a fairly wide range of topics which might not fit neatly into any of our other categories. Those topics include What’s on your Christmas list to get from Santa?Value of routed track ?,  Bread bin car carrier, and Dalek joke...

It used to be called the 'Weekly Topic', but the range of subjects covered made me think that we already had a general interest forum, although the weekly element in the title was possibly a little confusing. So, I've renamed it 'General Interest'.

Hope that's okay. Thumbup
