1:24 Slotfabrik 1998 Porsche 911 GT1
#1

I figured I should start a build thread for this new project, I think someone might be interested in it.

This is a "heavy" body that Fola makes and is intended to just paint and run. I however, want to make a car that resembles something Michael Niemas would make, and thus will need to perform surgery to achieve the finish I want to achieve. It's going to take a lot of work and will take a lot of time for epoxy work, sanding, shaping, more epoxy, etc...
Here's what I received in the original box, along with some new paints I ordered.

I thought the chassis comes with axles, bearings and other bits to make a complete running chassis, but I was mistaken. I didn't realize my last car from Fola had all the parts because he created a kit for me, so I placed another order for all the parts that were missing.

I started cutting out the body and shaping the wheel arches

I started building the chassis to get the wheel fitment, and drew in the front door arches that I need to create. You can see the outer layer of body I removed because it wasn't adhered to the weave underneath - that's happened all over the car and essentially has "bubbles" that I need to fill and fix

I have a Profil24 resin model of the same car that I'm using as a reference.

Here's a look at the Slotfabrik LMP chassis

Update... the chassis in the pictures is the wrong chassis for the 911 GT1 - I'm waiting for the correct chassis to arrive. I've made a lot of progress on the body, and the detail parts have arrived from the printer, now I have to install them.

Started fitting the new 3D printed parts with epoxy. I'll fill in all the gaps on the next mix, this was just to be sure the alignment was correct.

Thanks! But it's soooo much fill and labor to sand just to find more swiss cheese holes and then fill and sand and then more holes... I'm at a point where I'll just finish it as is and make it a racer. Fola did make me another body that is flawless that I'll turn into a near replica. I'll post pics of it soon, and I'll still continue to showcase this build till the end.

Here's the correct chassis for it...

and here it is with the correct wheels..

It's been some time and I've made more progress on the chassis and Race Body.

What's left is to secure the body carrier to the body, and in doing that I'll need to shift the front wheels forward about 1.5mm. I need to finish the rear wing - clear it, add a decal and glue it on the supports. I need to complete the interior and mirrors and install them. I'm debating if I should add lights to this Race body, it would really look awesome if I do! Ohh, and I'm buying a lathe to cut down the rear wheels. They're about 4mm too wide, as you can see in the picture. I might have to cut the front axle too a couple mm.
