Little and Large
#1

No, not the 2 useless British "comedians", just the 2 cars I am taking on my annual pilgrimage to the fair city of Bordeaux.
The theme for this year's race is Le Mans 1923 to 1973.
In 1/24th I built this little baby. Bought the body many years ago, I think it's a "promo" toy made in Mexico of all places.
1950 Cadillac (which is a town near Bordeaux as it happens) Coupe de Ville.

For 1/32nd, I did a totally obscure little French car called a Hrubon, it failed to qualify in 1967 and 1968, but I do love a beautiful loser.

And just for fun, here is a family snapshot

Love the Caddy - and the French did make some eccentric little cars back in the day.

Love the little Hrubon.   Is that a resin?

You should do a LeMonstre to have the full Cunningham family.

The Hrubon was built using a 60s plastic model as a starting point, it is by far the most complex scratch I have ever done
I'll leave you guys to guess which kit was used, but to help I can confirm it's not based on the Airfix mini [Image: wink.png]

Just a few more pictures to show how the Hrubon was made.
It started life as a Lola GT plastic kit made by Premier? (just a copy of the Monogram body).
What it looked like before the butchery started

Cutting the unwanted bits

New rear deck and raising the roof

New flat roof

The roof is getting there

Air intakes and door details added

More to follow

Goodness.....
You did that with a Lola GT?

Here's the thing.  I don't mind pushing pixels for hours to get a printable file.
Yet somehow the idea of doing all of this is just amazing to me.

Amazing work, sir.   Simply amazing.

Thanks guys
Well, at a guess I could get used to pushing pixels, but the temptation to get it just perfect would be enormous, and I would tinker with the shape until...
This way, the body is a one off, it is what it is, I am aware of all it's flaws, but it will never be "corrected". And after a day at the keyboard, doing it this way is quite relaxing (most of the time).
Here are a few more pictures of the work in progress.
Rear spoiler and roof doodah, this is the first version, I did a second one which is a little better.

I tried to cut the rear slats but the plastic is very brittle and just collapsed.

I instead cut out the whole area and inserted a plasticard piece.

This is what it looks like from the inside (the blue bits are what is left of the original roof.
    .
As I said earlier, very complex model, every surface has added detail, intakes, winglets and bits (and I left some out).
I also had to shorten the wheelbase and the tail of the car but the nose had to be lengthened!
I just need to glue the driver in there and find a suitable windscreen wiper.

Still, the "Gulf like" colour scheme is really nice, I just hope is goes reasonably well.
