What are these red things called (not the guide!) and where can I get some please? 

I have several second hand cars where the previous owner lowered them by deleting these but the tyres rub the arches so I'd like to replace them but without knowing their name, how CAN I find them!

If they're not available separately is there a reasonably priced alternative I could try. I seem to recall mention of Neoprene or silicone? O-rings to damp out vibrations. Source?

Yes rubber of some description.  You can use silicone o-rings, they're cheap enough from you-know-where 

...I would have shortened the body posts inside the bodyshell rather than cut those rubber stops off.

They are called silicon damper washers and are currently available from PSR

A few folks now produce/sell these but the "red" ones are silicone spacers from MRSlotcar.......sold under both the MRSlotcar and ScaleRacing brand names.

Some manufactures make them from foam (these have a very short term "memory), and some are made from vinyl/rubber ( not really compliant/soft enough).......the silicone ones have very good and indefinite memory, and are soft enough to offer very good dampening.

Pendle has just placed another order for these, and they come in a couple of thicknesses......part # SR=1501 are 0.5mm thick, and SR-1502 are 1.5mm thick.

They are very beneficial to use between the body posts and chassis plate, and even more beneficial when used between a chassis plate and motor pod lugs.
