UK slot car swapmeets are back in full swing - and it's a hectic schedule over the next four months, with five events in different parts of England...
Havant Scalextric Fair & Fun Day - Sunday 25 September.
A relatively new event, held in the original home town of Scalextric. Expect a full swapmeet and plenty of tracks to have some fun with. There's usually an exclusive show model, but no news on that yet. For more details and to book a table, head over to the event's Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/HavantScalextric
NSCC Leeds Northern Swapmeet - Sunday 9 October.
One for northern slot car enthusiasts, NSCC get free entry and first dibs on an exclusive show model. To contact the NSCC for more info or to book a table, visit their website:
https://www.nscc.co.uk/
Orpington Slot Car Swapmeet - Sunday 20 November.
A change of name, but it’s still Phil Smith’s extravaganza of slot car goodies in the London commuter belt. There are more details and table booking info on his website:
https://www.philsmith.co.uk/slotcarevents.html. There's also a virtual tour of a typical Orpington event on SlotRacer here:

Winter Slot Car Market - Sunday 4 December.
The organisers are probably still recovering from May’s wonderful UK Slot Car Festival – but the Winter Slot Car Market will be back on Sunday 4 December at the British Motor Museum. Expect details on their website soon:

Swindon Scalextric Swapmeet - Sunday 8 January 2023.
Swindon returns to its traditional first Sunday of January slot for 2023. There’s plenty of time to plan your trip and book a table – more details on the event Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/SwindonScalextric
And a couple of retailers putting on a show...
Rumour has it that Weevils Slot Cars will be hosting another swapmeet event at Ardingly Showground, near Gatwick in November. Keep an eye on their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/weevilsslotcars
Gaugemaster will be holding their annual AutoFest slot car open day at their West Sussex shop over the weekend of 8-9 October. More details here:

The first swapmeet of the autumn is this Sunday, 25 September, 10.30am-2pm at Havant Leisure Centre PO9 2AY. Entry is £1 for adults and free for under-16s. The venue is a 5 minute walk from Havant station - or there is ample parking at the centre costing £1.
Havant is a relatively new event, based in the original home town of Scalextric. The early days of the swapmeet coincided with a heritage project - including an exhibit, film and book - at the local museum - The Spring...
The film has been archived on The Spring website:
https://thespring.co.uk/heritage/our-her...calextric/
Scalextric have recently added a History section to their website, which is also worth a look:
https://uk.scalextric.com/about-scalextric
Back to the swapmeet... and expect to find most of the exhibitors you'll find at most UK shows - with cars, track and accessories at good prices - plus plenty of local traders too. Adrian Norman will be there with volumes of his magnum opus. There'll also be tracks to play on.
Here's a full list from 3 weeks ago, with a few more added since...

AutoFest at Gaugemaster's Engine Shed near Arundel is a two-day event this year - Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October, with the normal shop opening hours of 9-5.30 Saturday and 10.30-3.30 Sunday.
As well a range of unboxed bargains (mostly returns), there will be discounts on every single slot car product in the store over the weekend.
Tracks in use on both days include:
- WHO Racing's Scalextric ARC Air Mini Challenge competition
- SCX Advance digital layout
- Policar analogue track
- Micro Scalextric track
- Gaugemaster's Brands Hatch scenic track
If the weather is reasonable, a four-lane Ninco track will be set up outside in a marquee on Sunday - a club-style event is planned using Slot.it Group C and/or NSR GT3 with standard parts. However, that does all depend on the weather!
The Engine Shed's post code is BN18 0BN - a short drive from the A27 south coast road at Arundel and right next to Ford railway station.

I spent an enjoyable couple of hours at the Havant swap meet yesterday. I have attended all bar one of these events, as either a punter, or a seller with a half size collectors table.
Typical swap meet, everyone arrives 20 minutes early and there is a decent size queue..... followed by a few late comers, and then it starts going quiet, but nice to see a some local families arriving a bit later on.
A good selection of traders, big and small.
Tim from Weevils slot cars had a very good looking stand, Roger Barker also. Steve Cannon had some really nice bits, including some lovely limited edition Scalextric box sets.
Plenty of smaller sellers, with all sorts of stuff, and prices!! The smaller tables often contain some real bargains, and unusual items.
Massive amounts of Scalextric sport track at super cheap prices, if you want to add more Scalextric track to your layout, or for home use then it really is worth checking out a swap meet that is local to you.
A couple of tracks were set up for a quick blast of new purchases, but no competition type tracks, plus no sign of a Scalextric Havant swap meet Ltd edition car. Not surprising given the ongoing trouble of getting back up to speed with the main catalogue models.
For once I purchased very little...
Scalextric Ford Escort Mk2 Castrol Goodwood Revival, brand new at a good price, plus a super cheap BMW Mini Scalextric model to add to the club fleet and finally a nice red Scalextric Mini 1275GT bodyshell and chassis, for a whole £1, which will be turned into a short oval Hot Rod.
Good fun, nice selection of sellers and items, well worth a visit.
Pip

Mm. That's unfortunate - for me.
Was banking on the last weekend in May as I HAD to book our favourite holiday destination before all of May was taken.
Horrible term but Staycations are still big and 'our' destination was almost fully booked for 2023 a couple of months ago!
Managed to squeeze in a May and September visit - just!
Oh well .......
