Greetings from London
#1

Hi,
Full disclosure, I've only joined here as I have an old Scalextric set (circa late 70's/early 80's) that I'd like to give to a good home who'll appreciate it. I remember having great fun with my Dad with it when I was a kid, but it's spent the better part of 40 years now in my parents loft.

The set is the GP1 that came with the Brabham BT45 and the McLaren M23  My wife and I have cleaned it up and tested it, and it does seem to receive power still, but it needs someone with more patience than either of us have to really test each piece of track. There are a lot of extra pieces of track as well, as my Dad purchased additional parts to make the track bigger, and an additional 2 rally cars (the Ford Escort Mexico and BMW Turbo 320). All the cars work but definitely require new tyres (as the originals have perished) and probably new metal connector brushes (or whatever those things are called).

I don't want money... it's free to a good home, but if you can't pick it up, I only ask you pay the shipping. I'm based in Chiswick, West London, W4 postcode area. I don't want to use Gumtree as there are too many people who'l take anything going, and soneone like that will probably just chuck it in landfill eventually. I do have pictures if anyone wants to see the set.

Please either PM me or reply here.

Cheers,
Matt.

Hi Matt,

Brilliant thinking in offering it to a slot car group. If anyone can rebuild it to re-donate it? It will likely be in this circle.

I wish I could help. But alas, I live in an igloo in Canada. It's a long walk.

Good luck with your gift! Great idea!

Warm regards,
Ken
