One thing that was missing from my two layouts was a Safety car....

Having looked on eBay for a few weeks, the choice wasn't huge.   So I widened my search to include Police cars, and found this lovely looking Mclaren 720 S from Scalextric.   I got lucky,  with a brand new car,  in a damaged box, for a decent price. 

The choice of the Mclaren fits perfectly with our main club class, Scalextric GT3......

On the track is was slightly disappointing.   The Siren only worked properly on full throttle,  just omitting an annoying repetitive tone otherwise.  And the Flashing roof lights didn't really get going properly either,  so.......time for a quick modification 

Cut the wires to the siren,  which also sorted the lights,  as they now appear to get more power,  and flash left and right perfectly.   I wasn't bothered about the siren, but did want flashing safety lights.   The cars performance is great, quick and nice neutral handling. 

Some nice chequered decals covered up the main Police signage,  and Shell decals have covered the small Police lettering on the sides of the front and rear bumpers.   Very pleased with how it looks.
