West Norfolk and F1
#1

Must be something in the water.
Following George Russell's stellar performance in his Mercedes debut I would just like to point out that the sleepy little backwater of West Norfolk where I live has produced a pair of F1 drivers. George was born and raised in King's Lynn as was Martin Brundle. Ten miles down the road another famous driver, Jim Russell (no relation to George by the way) lived his entire life in Downham Market. Can any other small market towns match this?

There's a guy in our village called Graham Hill, but that's about it.

I used to live in Addlestone in NW Surrey, and I can claim that: -

Brabham F1 Racing team started out in a small factory unit a mile or so down the road.

McLaren F1 Racing team used to get their overalls cleaned in the dry cleaners on the corner of our road

Our school caretaker was a friend of Ken Tyrrell, so we used to have a Tyrrell F1 car on display at our little school fete.

I love puttering with gears
