Could someone please point out where I plug a slot.it lighting set into on a c-type chip? Is it obvious?
I don't have a chip handy at the moment and the lighting set instructions explicitly omit that piece of information.

The light board connects to the second tiny ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket - opposite the ZIF socket for the Hall Sensor, which is an integral part of a FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) ribbon cable. It's a very neat and lightweight solution... except Slot.it haven't produced the ribbon cable to connect to their light boards yet. Maurizio's 'To-Do' list must be exceedingly long.
In the meantime, the couple of teams using the C chip at the oXigen Le Mans race last year were connecting light boards (Slot.it or Z-Machine) to the power wires from the pick-ups. That can be done by cutting away some insulation from the wire (away from the chip) and looping a connecting wire. Or by soldering to the power-in terminal on the chip. For neatness, I'd go for the first option. Not using the socket does mean you lose the brake light function.

So the slot.it instructions show 3 wires going into the plug on the lighting kit, black, orange and red...where do each of these three wires go to?

Follow the instructions for the light board to wire for analogue running as you’ll powering it from the pick-up wires. The third wire is for the brake, which only works via the chip. I did look at the ribbon cables, but decided fixing up a DIY connector was beyond my skills. When a Slot.it cable is available, it will be plug n play.

I seem to remember that most of Slot.it's electronics are assembled in northern Italy (by a subcontractor), presumably with components from China - so I suspect there will be a delay... However, the pause might allow the team in Reggio to work on getting some projects like this nearer production. It's going to be a pretty chaotic year for a lot of companies.
We use the B2 chip (O201B2) for oXigen races at the moment. That has the old-style JST sockets for the lights (compatible with the plug that comes in the light kit) and Hall Effect sensor. It does not have the cross-platform flexibility of the C chip.

No need to invent, there are generic connectors out there...but you'll need to modify them.

I just had a chat with Maurizio and got some more info about the lights on the C chip.
There's good news...and bad news.
Good news is that within the design of the C chip, light functions (brake lights, flashing lights, etc etc) will be digitally controlled by the C chip.
Maurizio did not disclose all of the options, but given the architecture of the O2 design this could include automatic flashing of the lights when a car enters the pitlane.
Bad news is that the new light set to make use of these features is still under development, so its not "just a question" of making an adaptor cable.
As with other Slot.it projects this can take some time...but its usually well worth waiting for.
In the mean while you can still "hard wire" lights on O2 cars with a C chip.
For continious power you can connect the red and black wire of your Slot.it light kit to the plus and minus of your lead wires coming off the guide.
Unfortunately you'll have no brake lights.
If you want brake lights you can source one of the "analoge" light kits like Z machine.
To make these work you should connect them to the motor wires.
