A while back I bought this 1/24th car relatively cheaply off the dreaded 'bay.
I really didnt like the colour, so when it arrived , I promply stripped it. And as usual, there it sat in the plastic container waiting....
I cannot decide if this is an earlier - read 70's - build, or modern. For me it is unusual to have putty holding the tubes for the front wheels as well as holding the posts for the chassis. That tends to hark back to the 70's.
last week the decals from Patto's arrived, and with all this extra time, triggered me to get it out again and start the restoration.... i used Tamiya Orange, which is a pretty close match for the 60's Mclarens. Once dried I used bare metal foil for rear wing
And only then - did I realise that this low wing version of the M8B did not run in these colours. It ran in the jerobee dark orange, The Red of Lothar Mothenbacher and few other colours of lesser know drivers....
SO this will be the 'test' car that Bruce drove, while developing the factory longer wing (not the tall version) which became the M8D
