Two things....
1) I would like one to run in a race in September
2) Why should I have to take out a second mortgage to get one?
I mean really......pin guide, fixed pickups, not very accurate, probably not a very good slot car but the organiser of the above race seems to think they are the bees knees so a special race just for some anaemic old Scalex tat! Oh good grief!
If anyone has one that isn't their pride and joy or are saving it to pay for their retirement, maybe you could take pity and let me buy it for sensible money - and I don't mean Thunderslot territory
Postage to France!

Have you tried Phil Smith? He only lists mintish stuff on his website but has a lot of less than perfect cars available cheaply if you ask. Also try looking for the 80s reissue with later guide and motor C098 BRM which usually fetches less money.

A 'buy it now' cheapish. Nothing to do with me, just spotted it, that's all.

I'll look at Phil's stuff, thanks.

Wrong one sorry to say.
It's only the original one that he will allow. Quite a few people out here have the later 'race tuned' version but he says "NO"

Perhaps suggest the host should have some 'pool cars' and run them IROC style, if he's so keen to see a full grid of 'Unobtainium' P25's?
What's next? Black Bentleys?

Thanks Anthony but, as you say, it's the wrong one.
I can't imagine any other circumstance where I would actually want a Scalextric car
However, the suggestion of Phil Smith has paid dividends. He is selling me all the parts required to make one! At a very reasonable price too. I suspect that it may be an annual event but I could always sell it if I don't enjoy the race. I have absolutely no idea how these things perform or even what motor they have.
Are they tuneable a bit I wonder!!

Tuneable? Not very but depends what you are allowed to do. They have the original Triang RX motor which can be zapped or even rewound. The pin guide is the real weak spot so if it must be original you are mostly stuffed. It wasn't actually a bad car and the later race tuned C89 is really quite a nice performer since it had a slightly upgraded motor and a proper swivel guide.

Yup, completely original only he says! We'll see what Phil comes up with. Obviously I'll fit some nice new copper braids and some urethanes but apart from the motor then, that's it. Down to the driver then
Can you tell the motors apart
