How's this for a way to start a motor race?
Perhaps the Queen could do the same at the British GP.
They also reckon the Almighty is a NASCAR fan, the pastor saying the prayer before the Xfinity race thanked God for the sunny day and V8 engines!

And then the race was rained off until Monday, of course...
Scary final lap. Not good at all for Ryan Newman. By all accounts not life-threatening, but 'serious'.

Yes, divisive figure but it is about the office of President not the man. Ronald Reagan also started the race back in the day and it really is cool to get your head of state to start a motor race no matter people's opinion of him. This made the national newspapers over here and they never mention NASCAR normally.

With respect, that's utter rubish, it's the Daytona 500, much more famous than the turd in in the White house.
He's only there because he wants votes from the rednecks.
Trump is a VERY SENSiTIVE subject over here.
So how is Boris working out for ya. (see what I mean?)

I like the idea of the presidential car (The Beast) doing a lap at Daytona. Anyone know who was driving and what time he made? (L.O.L. by the way)

Since NASCAR has chosen to align itself with a racist, p**sy-grabbing, white supremacist... I'll not be watching NASCAR in the future.
Failure, or refusal, to speak out against despicable attitudes and behaviors amounts to a de facto approval of such.

Yes, I think we all know that Mr Trump is a very sensitive subject in the States. I suspect Brian's tongue was firmly in his cheek when he posted the video. And I did have a chortle thinking about the Queen taking a turn before the British Grand Prix. That would be... I dunno... words escape me.
Naturally, during an election year, politicians turn up anywhere they can get a half-decent reception and sympathetic media coverage. And if they can't guarantee a good response, they don't show up. Most of us over here don't hold our politicians in very high regard. That's why - I suspect - we try and keep politics away from sport as much as possible. It's also why at our slot car club, we kindly ask people to leave politics (and religion) at the door... Otherwise it spoils the fun.

Did they invite him or did he insist? I would have thought that the president, whoever or whatever he is, would be a little hard to refuse. I agree with your description of him by the way. Obnoxious git (neither religious or political comment - merely my assessment of him as a human [just] being)
