It's got to be, hasn't it? The word from last night's previews is that the film is pretty darn good.

OK, its "dramatised" and there are Carroll Shellby interviews on YouTube but the movie is still essential viewing.

There are mixed reviews on the film and it is a bit 'economical with the truth' but I shall be going to see it anyway. I have been told that there is not a single mention of the fact that the GT40 was designed and almost entirely  built in England by Eric Broadley of Lola.

I have mostly been hearing praise.
The only complaint I heard was "if you don't know who Lee Iaccoca and Carrol Shelby are you won't get it"
or "if you get excited about cubic inches and weight distribution you might like it "
I am guilty on both accounts...

The winners always write the history. I watched YT interview of CS and he was asked about that and he said that "we" recognised the Broadley designed Lola as a good starting point so bought it. His implication was that he was involved in the project from the start and had got his friend John Wyer to start the ball rolling in the UK to work with Broadley. I recall him saying that the engine development was the biggest challenge and that aspect was all done in the US. They ran simulation tests and ended up with a bomb proof engine.
I suppose that the chassis design was essentialy all Broadley's work, with aero enhancements evolving around it.

I just watched this yesterday, and apart from some obvious flaws, was an enjoyable watch.
I don't know enough of the history to tell how much of it was true aside from the result of the race, but a good film IMO.

As I has just entering elementary school at the time I've only read the account and seen a couple of great documentaries on the subject. ( just type it in to your You Tube search bar)
From what I can tell most of it was true and accurate, but as with most Hollywood retellings things were added/ altered/ changed a bit to make "better entertainment" and to reach out to a larger audience.  After all there just aren't enough of us motorheads to pay for a movie like that.

For those who have the absolute truth about how things went down it can be a bit infuriating but I found it extremely fun and entertaining.

Having been around racing for a while I think it does a great job of showing the troubles and passion!
