Scalextric Range Launch 2026
#1

This year's Scalextric catalogue unveiling is scheduled for 2pm on Wednesday.

I haven't had a preview this year, so I'll share the excitement and surprise of Scalextric fans around the globe. I do hope to share images of some Q1 and Q2 releases (ie the actual cars, not 3D renders) from Thursday onwards.

So what are we going to get this year? Almost certainly something for everyone across the various categories - TV & Movie, Street, Touring, Rally, GT & Prototypes, Single Seaters and Super-Resistant. We'll see what sets are planned to introduce Scalextric to new racers next Christmas. As always at this time of year various rumours have been circulating... Will there be any innovative new technology this year? Will prices stay the same, creep up or even go down? And is the Scalextric Club returning?

All will be revealed on Wednesday - apart from a few cars that are kept under wraps for a nice surprise later in the year  Sun

The Nuremberg Toy Fair - Spielwarenmesse - takes place from 27 to 31 January, so expect brands such as Slot.it and Carrera to announce their 2026 releases around then.

Here is it...

And all ready to pre-order on the website: https://uk.scalextric.com/new

Some nice stuff  Sun

Here are the Hornby media team's highlights...

Nissan R34 Skyline – 2 Fast 2 Furious

One of the most recognisable movie cars of all time, the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 from 2 Fast 2 Furious remains a fan favourite. Scalextric’s model captures the silver body, bold blue stripes, rear wing and distinctive lighting effect seen on screen. A must-have for film fans and collectors looking to add cinematic flair to their track.

Nissan Primera – BTCC 1999 – Laurent Aïello

Driven to championship success by Laurent Aïello in his debut BTCC season, the 1999 Nissan Primera is a touring car icon. This brand-new Scalextric model recreates the bold livery and race detailing from the title-winning campaign. An essential addition for fans of 1990s Super Touring and BTCC history.

Ford Transit Mk1 and Mk1 Escort – Ford Motorsport

This characterful twin pack celebrates the reality of classic rallying. The Ford Transit Mk1, complete with period detailing, tows a flat-bed trailer carrying the Escort Mk1 in Ford Motorsport colours. The Escort offers lively on-track performance, while the Transit and trailer add a fun and unusual element to any layout.

Ford Sierra RS Cosworth – Heat for Hire

Inspired by the eye-catching car driven by Russell Brookes and Neil Wilson on the 1989 RAC Rally, this Sierra RS Cosworth stands out in its bright orange livery. With detailed bodywork, sharp decals and confident handling, it is ideal for both regular racing and rally-themed collections.

Ford RS Road Collection Triple Pack

This display-ready triple pack brings together three RS road icons. The Sierra RS Cosworth in Moonstone Blue, Sierra Sapphire Cosworth in Flint Grey and Escort RS Cosworth in Jewel Violet each represent a key chapter in Ford performance history. A carefully curated set for fast Ford fans and collectors.

Ronnie Peterson Twin Pack – Lotus 72 and 79

This twin pack honours Ronnie Peterson with two legendary Formula One cars. The Lotus 72 from the 1974 Monaco Grand Prix and the Lotus 79 from Peterson’s 1978 Austrian Grand Prix victory are finished in classic black and gold John Player Special colours. Together, they celebrate a driver and era remembered for speed, style and innovation.

This got the biggest OMG from me...

£109.99 and available in the summer.

Nice to see the MG 6R4 and the RS200 tooling is still around. Plus a new Celica GT-Four in two great liveries, an Alistair McRae Escort Cosworth, Grégoire Munster 2025 Puma - and that Heat for Hire Sierra was a very nice surprise (RS Cosworth retooled for a genuine rally version).

I always look forward to the Scalextric yearly release launch, and there is definitely some nice, and interesting models to come.

Not a lot of 'New for 2026' tooling though......
Nissan Primera Super Tourer looks fab  Thumbup  There is a very big gap currently for updated Super Tourer BTCC models.  Hornby Scalextric have made a good start (last years Volvo Estate sold very well) and there are plenty of others cars to cover.
The Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) also looks like a great new addition,  in both race and Fand F forms. Particularly like the ' underglow lighting effect ' of the film version.   Is this the first time any manufacturer has attempted this?
Toyota Celica GT- Four rally car is a surprise,  as is  the amount of rally cars overall,  to me.  Looks good, and will fit well with the Subarus that Scalextric have recently done.
Ford Transit, oh yes!  Like Woodcote I was a bit OMG.   Got to sell well, especially the rally pack, but a million choices for variants to follow.  I'd like a Bank robbers version,  so the Jaguar Mk1 Police car has something to chase!
Wonder if it will perform OK on track?  At least it won't rot like the originals!

Everything else appears to be reliveries of existing models, some very nice.
The Heat for Hire Sierra is an updated/re tooled former release,  the Mod Saloon Anglia likewise.   Scalextric did a lovely version of this exact tooling for historic racer Martin Reynolds,  but he was asking nearer £100 for it, but he was brave enough to have them commissioned in the first place.....

The gantry for the Hot Laps app is a good bit of cheap fun, and wow, a new track piece!
The skid chicane is no doubt remembered by many of us from childhood Scalextric sets.  I will definitely be buying some, and installing them in one of our 4 lane Club layouts,  just to hear the moaning if nothing else  Rofl
But seriously,  well done Hornby Scalextric for listening to what people asked for, and bringing it back.
Please can we have a modern take on the Goodwood chicane next, and then some radius 2 bends with Super close rails, thanks!

There are some nice sets to be had also, which is still a big part of the Scalextric year, especially Christmas,  they still tell us.

Overall a really good looking set of models to come, if a bit light on actual new tooling for this year.
Good job Hornby Scalextric  Checkeredflag
