Scorpius is going light crazy.
The MPD car decoder has off/high beam/low beam all switchable from controller, exhaust simulator lights, flashing lights for safety cars and a windscreen display.
And a super capacitor to keep every on during deslots or stationary (analogue) etc.
It also doubles up as a dedicated light board for (wireless) analogue.

All plug n play and most importantly optional, yet a must for 24 and perhaps 6 hour races. It it gives joy let’s do it. If not that’s ok too.

The last time we hosted a round of SRGB outside the club room, we rented a scouts hall in 2017.

One of the Rally stages was to be held in darkness in a room by itself, the cars going round with lights glaring was superb to see.

...I must admit it felt a bit weird a bunch of old guys all standing round in a dark room together

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers

Ditto, but only when they come fitted. Fitting light is not a task I enjoy, or one that necessarily results in working lights on a car!

I love puttering with gears

I snipped the lights out of my white Mini. Then the rules changed to night racing. I raced as many times as I could without lights before being disqualified.

Do you think I could get lights back in the car? Not a chance. I invented a new lanquage just trying (a mix of Gaelic and Japanese I think). I eventually got one bright white LED installed which makes the entire nose glow. Then installed a bright red LED in the back. Now the entire back end glows red. All the guys in my club have a good chuckle over that one. At least it has lights now.

I agree partly with Brian; In race slot cars, lighting is not always as necessary as in rally slot cars.
Here the lighting creates a special atmosphere in the dark.
