BRM P57 "stackpipe"
#1
Smile

A few years ago I entered the VRAA proxy for GP cars from the 1961/63 seasons, and really wanted to build a BRM P57, as driven by Ritchie Ginther (I have several Graham Hill cars   Thumbup ) [/list]I did have a very nice fibreglass body by Dave Jones on the shelf, but under close inspection, I thought it would be a pain to stuff all the running gear underneath it, as it was very tiny...very nice, but, very tiny.
I did have a Lindberg P57 on the shelf (it had been there for years, as it really was quite hideous), but, when I squinted at it, I thought there was a very small chance that I could make it presentable, so,.....that is where I started.

Here is a Lindberg BRM P57........not only ugly, but, as a bonus, they did not run well at all......nice !!
The drivers melon is huge, and , sits miles above the cockpit.

Not looking forward to the body, I started on the chassis...........a typical flexi board design, partially done.

Chassis completed with the mandated BWA FF050, and 7mm wide tires.

On to the body.........once all the bits were taken off, and the driver and his base were cut out,......it started to look better

I made a few suspension bits, added some gauges, stuck in some BWA "Dunlop" inserts, and installed a more realistic looking Mr. Ginther............. and while it is no doubt a bit "porky, considering the starting point, I am quite pleased.
PS This car fared well, winning the VRAA series.

Cheers
Chris Walker

Well you smashed that one out of the park. Great build.

I've tried to sort out the bullet points, there was a list code in there, so either you hit the list button by mistake, or we have a glitch.

Hi Jason, I managed to get most of the bullet points to disappear, but, now the pictures don't line up........it does appear all aligned on the edit (full edit) page however.

Not a big deal, but, it is frustrating.....it also took me a few tries to get all the pics. in,........they all loaded and showed up on the page whilst I was creating the thread, (and while I was editing,  but, some (randomly) went missing when I tried to submit,..... took me 4 or 5 tries to get them all to appear.

Apologies for the inconvenience Chris, hope you'll stick with it.

Your pictures are lined up perfectly for me, they're all left aligned, exactly as they're supposed to be.

If you're trying to line them up differently, I'm not sure how that will work, or how you're attempting to do that. Looking at the code, there were lists all over the place, which I've deleted. Is it possible you're using the bullet list buton to indent, or move the images over to the right a bit?

Regarding images, most of us use the Attachments section at the bottom of the reply section, which allows you to add images direct from your computer without having to paste codes. It's much simpler, and it also guards against any photo hosting site which might suddenly decide to change it's terms, as Photobucket did. The photos are then hosted here on site.

Just click on Browse or Choose Files, choose your photos, then click Add Attachment. Wait a while for them to upload and the file names will appear in the attachment sectionundrneath the reply box. Then put your cursor where you want a photo to appear in the post and whizz down the bottom and click on Insert into Post. It will just add an attachment number in the post, but you'll see the image if you preview the post.

Hi Jason,...thanks for the tips !!

Did you realign my pictures for me ??........after I last edited, (everything looked good on the edit page) and saved the changes, the pics. were all over the place on the forum view,.....but, now several minutes later they are just fine...strange.......not saying it was not my fault, (it has been known to happen)...but, I thought I had done  everything correctly.

I did paste them from Postimage (which has been good to me), but, will try the "add attachment" method next time.

Thanks for your help, and patience  Thumbup

Thanks for your patience too Chris.

I'm not exactly sure what's happened. But I removed some more list codes, and I think it looks okay now.

Sorry if this has all distracted from your wonderful build.

Like I said in Matra post - converting a pigs to pearls is a remarkable skill. Unless you build cars, one can never truly appreciate the fantastic work you do,

Just awesome Chris!!
