Whats on your bench ...

Hi John,

I'm also not an expert on the subject. But Google Images says the one you're talking about is a 1967.

I know that Strombecker made the yellow version, and Eldon made the version with the tusks.

There's a silver Hotwheels J-car in the house somewhere, one I bought in the early 70's

They came in many colours.

I think Tamiya (maybe not, it was a wind up) made a model kit with the tusks, it's wider and of course lighter than the Eldon.

Here is at least part of the evolution.

Thanks Chappy. I'm already hunting for an Eldon body. I'll add the Tamiya to the list.  Thumbup

Many J-cars are painted white with a black nose. We have two in our club. One is typical white/black. The other is yellow with a black nose. I'm tempted to repaint this car all yellow to bring it back to it's former Strombecker look. Plain, but with a bit more shine. More of a restoration, but with a new scratch chassis.

Ken,
I sold my original yellow one.   This one came in a group of cars and has a Slot.it 2E chassis underneath so it's much faster than the original.

Looking forward to seeing your aluminum chassis version!

A Datsun 240Z is on my bench at the moment. It's a fun little car.
