Whats on your bench ...

Well I did finish the rather strange 1972 Parnelli Jones Indy car, and was able to show it.....and even run it on the Rockingham Track yesterday for the annual "American Pie" National slot car event celebrating American Indy, Trans Am, Can Am and early NASCARS.
The photo was taken the previous day on my home track, in the company of the Mclaren M16 and a Watson Roadster previously made for this event.

PS you can see the chassis fits ;)
Can't really agree with Tibbs and strangely (as we are talking Ferrari) I tend to agree with you. They look rather sparse to me, not enough spokes to be convincing.

Progress on a John Warren Tr 58 and on a destroyed Scaley Tyrell - this raced in the Locsl SA F1 series of the 70s. Rebuilt completely - sadly missing an airbox

FINALLY got a MRRC Toyota Celica Gr.5 on the bench.
All thanks to Graham's proxies and getting the chance to drive a huge range of cars, some of which are basic cars.
On the back of this I've gone back to setting up basic cars again (like the Ninco BMW V12 in the current proxy).
...this Toyota will be built on similar lines to Graham's Modified Standard rules with a 22k motor
First job, reinforce the guide mount as it was slightly split and flexed too much...superglue & bicarb will fix that!
...then sleeve the guide post hole with 4mm 'thinwall' brass tube.
Next, a job that you should do before going any further, glue/true the tyres.
Then sit the chassis on two Stanley knife blades so the chassis is flat and parallel to the block of steel I use.
Then glue the bearings in...
It's now a nice smooth roller, motor is next... tomorrow

Raced it on Thursday in our Gr.5 racing, managed a 6.19" lap and finished 2nd overall, only beaten by Andy's Gr.5 with a brass chassis and 46k Falcon motor...
...I'll definitely be racing it more regularly.
This weekend it now has a lightweight interior and independently rotating alloy wheels so should be more consistent and slightly faster...love it!
