Cars bought by members in 2019
#71

Arrived today, a pair of SCX Seat Leons for use at our monthly race meetings.

Just £19.99 each with free postage (orders over £30) from Time Tunnel Models.

First experience with the RK42 motor and it is definitely livelier than the the old RX42 range. Straight out of the box with zero prep they both turned sub 6 second laps which is very good for a brand new car on my track. A bit of basic fettling should knock at least a couple of tenths off that. Overall quite impressed with them - tyres actually provide reasonably good grip for a change but front wheels need attention as they don't quite reach the track and there is godawful bleed from the rear lights on the red car. The back end is reminiscent of the Blackpool illuminations.

Nice looking cars and good value.  Thumbup

I like the look of their SEAT Toledo GT and Renault Sport Rs.01 but don't know much about SCX cars though?

Are the wheels of a 'universal' size? I.E. will they take NSR, Slot.it and other makes of tyre, or are they unique-fitting 'orphans'?

Generally (at least most later models) SCX will take Slot.it /NSR tyres. Nascars are an exception I think.
My home track Corvette GT, Merc GT3, Toledo and RS01 have Slot.it fitment urethanes.
A bit of weight as close to the guide as you can get, and possibly thinner (ie NSR 0.2mm) braid should sort the fronts, not sure if they are independent fronts on the Seats, but they can be quite good, but easily swapped (straight clip out of independent and clip in of suitable bushings) for a solid front axle if required.
The RK motors are perfect for home tracks  Sun

Find me a different livery at a good price and I will buy it. Otherwise you will just have to fill in your middle lane. Bigsmile

I think the onus is on the track owner to supply suitable numbers of vehicles, it doesn't stop at bacon Fluff Rofl

My weekend purchase - not a new car, but one with some interesting history... as a back-up camera car for a series of Red Bull Racing / Carrera videos (SlotRacer online thread here). It clearly wasn't used much, but has a few scratches on the roof where the camera was attached. The roof should polish up nicely, but I think I'm going to leave it as it is.

I've always liked the car - another Carrera Austrian-themed racer. The AT Racing Ferrari 458 raced in the 2015 European Le Mans Series, picking up the LM GTE class win at Imola and fifth in the LM GTE championship. The Belorussian father and son duo of Alexander Talkanitsa Jr and Snr were backed up by Alessandro Pier Guidi, who would soon become a factory Ferrari GT driver.

Oh, and I paid £14.50 for it - plus the shoe leather from picking it up from across town.

Sticking with second-hand buys, I picked these three beauties up from another forum three days ago. Arrived this morning, beautifully packed and apart from slightly ragged braids they'd pass for new.
