I'm on the second tyre. I think I've got a technique to get them trued, but you need lots of cleaning kit! Happy so far with the surface finish I'm achieving, and hoping to find an edge over the NSRs...

Scalextric Austin Healey
Picked up a Healey at the recent Cobham show, fairly complete, just a bit dusty as part of my buying shells for conversions projects. Back home and looking over the shell set a target of fitting modern running gear to the shell without modifying any part of the body.
Below is the results of a lot of fiddling with dimensions to get a 3dp ‘Power Sledge’ type conversion to fit with provision for a Flat 6 motor. The motor holder locates into the rear prong holes and snaps into the front clip feature (copying the original Scalex motor brackets). Rear axle reuses the original axle bearing supports and the front axle has an insert to control the axle height and movement better than slopping in the original supports.
The original pin guide is removed and a custom guide used which locates onto the main motor holder. Will need to evaluate how well the rear set guide post is going to function and if I should look at other options trying to reuse the original pin guide post. To finish off will add some PSR wheels with inset grub fixings at the rear and some plastic wheels to the front.

Perhaps 3rd time lucky...... but here are my current entries for the US 50 x50 Sports & GP car proxy
PP Connaught B-Type Syracuse cast resin body with PP chassis.
Ninco Covette Sebring body with JS Design chassis.
The Corvette is much the same as last year, I like the chassis from JS designs and it has served me well, getting a 2nd place finish last year, after a 5th place the year previously. This year however it has to be fitted with Pu tyres which I am not very confident about, there is a choice of 20 or 40 shore A tyres, my gut feeling is that the softer tyres might be better on these cars if they don't wear out too much.
But I will have to do some more testing to decide which ones to go for ??
