They walk amongst us.

I live in a small Norfolk village which has all the usual amenities. There is a village website with complete information about everything - Opening times of shop, post office, pub etc, how to book the village hall and so on. It contains links to all the relevant businesses and local clubs.

We also, needless to say, have a village Facebook group which seems mostly populated by idiots. Apart from the endless complaints about dog poo you can guarantee that someone will ask every single day - "when does the shop shut, is the Post Office open on Saturday, how do I book the village hall?" etc. etc. None of these people seem to know about Google and they think that Facebook is some kind of oracle. Even stranger is the fact that normally sensible people answer these cretins!

I thought I had seen it all but.......................
we also have a mainline railway station. It was shut during the Beeching era but eventually resurrected after a local campaign nearly 50 years ago. On May 5th there will be a small celebration about this as you can see from the following screenshot.

Please read the comment. Sometimes I wonder how the human race is still surviving! And yes, somebody did actually reply and tell her that it was at the railway station!

Just came across another gem in my local paper:
a woman was in court for drink driving, pleaded guilty and got the statutory driving ban. She then informed the court that she had driven there and would have to get someone else to collect her car! Was she unaware of the penalty for drink driving or did she just think they would let her drive home first?

The funny thing is Sir David Attenborough said "Human beings have stopped evolving after becoming the only species to put halt to natural selection of its own free will”

...I wonder if he believes in devolution of a species

I for one 100% believe in de-evolution of the human species. I am constantl astonished at the dumb-arses (DA's) in this world, we won't restate the previous DA examples posted above, however I do believe we as 'the 'supposed intelligent species' of the world we are seriously stupid across all races and countries.

Is the itnernet to blame, as others keep saying? I don't think so. I think it is nothing but utter pure laziness to think logically, not to forget our attitudes and disrepsect towards others that is constantly in our faces daily.

If the humans species continues down this 'dumbness' path it will not be a very good ending. Perhaps the original inhabitants will retake this earth without need of force, just sit back and wait for our dumbness to continue.

De-evolution is well and truely underway

Manufacturers always try to make things "idiot proof". Why? Because they know the newest model idiot is already on the showroom floor. They make better idiots every year.

I first heard about Sun Tzu in a Ross Brawn autobiography (albeit miss-spelled) and the gist of it is winning a battle without personal loss... this is natures way.

In a past life as a product development engineer, it was not an infrequent event to be asked, presented or even ordered to create something that proves the above devolution theory.

One example, was attending a cross functional meeting on improving UK instruction leaflets for wiring mains powered products, so the usual ideas trotted out,

Better diagrams
Colour diagrams
Photos
Bigger text

and having the text repeated in Braille for the blind or impaired vision.

With a straight face I pointed out the cost proposition of of punching dots in the leaflet versus the number of blind or impaired sight electricians with a guide dog capable of barking out the wiring colours would be a very small and rapidly decreasing segment.

Cheers

I am a motorcyclist and often look at advertisements for used helmets, jackets, boots, trousers.......it amazes me how many people write up an advertisement without the essential information. I sometimes ask, "will it fit me?"

Kind of blind egocentric thinking in my opinion.
