Scalextric AMC Hornet

That's a good looking slot car and it has room for a digital chip. As a youngster my parents had a Hornet station wagon (shooting brake?). We called it the 'Horny Wagon' because the chance of getting a girl to ride in it was slim! The culture in the states was to cruise around and 'pick up' girls. Naturally, the fellas with the fancy cars had better chances, lol.
The AMC cars were nice but not super quality. The sheet metal was thin and pressed to relatively flat shapes lending the cars to be a bit 'boxy' relative to competitors. Some had interchangeable doors across different models. The interiors were Spartan. Our Horny Wagon had vinyl seats with a printed weave pattern that eventually wore away! They were very slippery so you had to hang on when going around curves! The spare tire was a strange and folded almost plastic thing that had to be inflated with a can of air(?) that was stored next to it. Memory is a little foggy there. I thought you readers might enjoy a little first hand perspective. AMC was struggling to survive and would soon fold when these cars were produced.

Another one of those pictures with a car whose hand brake obviously isn't working.... and they need a woman to hold it in place!
