It always brings a smile to my face when forum members, here and elsewhere, spell microelectronics terms incorrectly. My favourite is seeing the term silicone used when the intention was to reference the hitech material silicon. Silicone is of course used widely by plumbers to seal shower screens. Another common one is mis-spelling of Schottky. ;)

Of course in the Electronics world you will probably be familiar with being described as an "Electronic Engineer" - LOL...

I can see the possibility of spelling a hi-fi company's name wrong.

So the moral to this story is... be careful to spell correctly... or risk intended/unintended humour which apparently may take various forms...

Language is a wonderful thing. Schiit is a well respected old German name apparently.

It's not just us plebs wot get things wrong though. Big companies manage to do it too. Especially where checking for translations might be a good idea.

Rolls Royce Silver Mist for the German market and Mitsubishi Pajero in general are good examples.

But typos can still be funny sometimes... and part of it must be down to overly helpful spelling checkers... right?

As OP for this thread I have to agree that bad spelling and bad grammar can both provide a source of humour and entertainment. Also, I have no doubt that I have provided an ample supply of both over the years... without doubt. Perhaps it goes with the territory? as we type into our smartphones while we sit in transit in railway stations or airport lounges? But if it brings a smile to the faces of others surely that is no bad thing :)
