Not new but a nice find on eBay. I've never seen this Birel sponsored Ninco Kart before but unbelievably, two appeared on eBay at once.

I snapped this one up at a fourth the price of the 'new boxed' item and since it's going to be run, who needs the box! 

As shown in the seller's pic's, it was missing the exhaust but as it's just a push fit, not heat sealed in place, it was easily added from a donor.  

The only other issue was the gear mesh being a little notchy. The first thought was damaged teeth but thankfully, on closer inspection, it turned out it was just dirt between two of the teeth on the crown and one on the pinion. Cleaned out with a jewellers screwdriver it's now nice and smooth.

I've been slowly picking these up to make a full grid of six. One more to go - but so far this is my favourite.

A few cars I have bought recently.

Not all new releases but cars I wanted.

Read an article recently by Maurizio Ferrari discussing his 4wd Audi R 18, all the development put into it, all the issues and his love of it. Also a comment that it is unlikely he will do another . That decided me , and as I have a few R18's already, I wanted to dd this to the stable. I managed to get this one from Italy for a fair price.


   

I have the ame car by Le mans Miniatures and while the detail is far more fine, It does not have any huge standout items on it - still love it though (lmm at the back)

       


My Sunoco 512m eventually arrived. I think the car is very photogenic, so strangly was alittle disappointed . Make no mistake - still a beautiful car.

Added comparite pics as well of its sister 512M and the policar P4 which also arrived.

           


Last but not least Sclextrix Williams Fw11 also arrived. It has wonderful detail and as I had the 2 Lotii that had been updated and detailed by a friend , I want this car to add to the stable.

IT’S HERE!

I’ve not quite been pacing up and down waiting on the postman, but I did run to the door when he rang the bell.

My first job in PR was at Austin Rover back when this was winning. No surprise then, this and the Metro 6R4 are very dear to me.



Looking at it I suddenly remembered being given a passenger lap of Silverstone, driven by Win Percy. The cornering forces seemed to defy physics. It was media day, weeks before the event, so probably not the actual car this is a model of, but still a nice mental visit back to 1986.

I like that, but it looks too narrow to me, I had an SD1 back many moons ago and it was just so much wider than the  escorts, capris, etc.
Plus its Scaley, and I have had too many disappointments to shell out the price they are now asking, looks nice though.

Knowing Scalextric for what appears important to them then I am sure this thing is properly proportioned but I could be wrong.  I remember seeing these Rover SD1 vehicles through the 'vitrine' of a brand motor dealership one winter's night on the way back from the pub in the city centre whilst as a law undergraduate at Sheffield University - back circa 1983.  As 'road' cars, these were touted to the 'motoring executives' of the day.  They certainly were 'big and wide' by UK's 1980s set of expectations and I best recall some of them were fitted with 3.5 litre engines and so the 1970s petrol crisis was, by then, truly done and dusted.  Thatcher's little 'revolution' was well and truly underway and these were no doubt part and parcel to the 'feel good'.  In some semi inebriated state that day I did ask myself whether one of these or something similar would be my destiny?  I currently run around north Bucks in my 1018 Ford Focus and so I am pleased things turned out 'a little' differently.  I recall Scalextric made one of these somewhat contemporaneously.  Personally, I find these things 'box standard' and never anything special and so I cannot, for the life in me, understand just precisely why the business should come over all nostalgic and decide to revisit them?   I suppose that the fathers of some of these young model makers and designers evented to drive these 'bricks'.  We are mostly all truly fond of our fathers and so therein lies 'the catch'?  Roll 'em over and crush 'em.  It's already happened.  Next.

Scalextric impact resistant Ferrari F430, eBay bargain at £12.50. Listed as 'used' but near mint condition, yellow ones are not that common and it matches one of my lane colours.

They are virtually bulletproof and I mostly keep them for inexperienced visitors to play with so they don't wreck the more expensive cars. They are greatly underrated though, blacked out windows and no interior but, with just a change of tyres, they handle very well, are really quick in a straight line and can even give some Slot.It cars a run for their money on my track.
   

Next up a couple of SCX NASCARS I bought at Milton Keynes swapmeet yesterday for a very reasonable price.

   

The DeWalt car is just a body and bare chassis but they are quite hard to find. It only cost £4, will clean up easily and I have the necessary parts to restore it to working condition.

Having missed out on the Bullitt cars for various reasons in the first and second releases, when an email from Inaslot arrived in my inbox I clicked the link, saw these were in stock. Only just mind, I think I grabbed the last one from tis batch.
For now, these are staying in the box, not being removed from the plinth and carefully wrapped and stored in a safe place.
What is the world coming to, slot cars that aren't used, it must be my advancing years !

A friend has stopped slot cars altogether and sold me these for a ridiculous price.

Included was a HIRO Ferrari resin kit - had a good look at it and as they sell for between 700-1200 Pounds - I will probably sell this on and not convert it to a slot car.

Has anyone seen prime racer twin tyre truer? Cannot find the site on the net so assumed the company is no longer.

Not exactly a car but it is Scalextric related and we don't have a section for jigsaws.

   

   

Been looking for one for a while, long out of production and often fetches silly money. Ebay eventually came up with this at a perfectly reasonable 'Best Offer' price. Thought I might frame it when done and use for decoration in the track room.
