If you are concerned about using "fluxed" wick for braid ,..cut a few strips and let them soak in lighter fluid/naptha for a few minutes, and brush with a toothbrush.
While I do not personally use "wick" for braid, most of the folks I know that do use it, use non fluxed, or, clean their fluxed stuff before installing it.
I do not use it as it is generally a touch thicker than the braids specifically for slot car use,.....so, it tends to leave less of the depth of the guide blade in the slot,.....however, the difference is very minimal.
