People - painting, trackside & ideas
#51

Not a good place for them to sit Steve. They will be in mortal danger next time my car hits the pit wall. Bigsmile

When I was a kid we used to black wash aircraft, tanks and figures with the residue in the tiny jar of white spirit that we cleaned our brushes in.  The dark muddy brown super-thinned “paint” would settle in panel lines and gather around rivet details and belt buckles etc. and when the spirit evaporated what was left was dirt stuck in the nooks and crannies of the model.  The idea is for the darker colour to settle in the low places and leave the raised parts completely clean. So if you do make a wash - make it very thin for best effect.

It only works if the paint you cleaned off was dark and some of it was matte.

Thanks Steve, another package on my shopping list...

My German Fuel Drum and Jerry Can set arrived today and hopefully tomorrow will bring my Tank Crews (I,  err... fancy the map-reader  (LOL))

If you have any suggestions for Rally Stage scenery, that would be good.

Meanwhile below is a suggestion for the chap to be more politically correct.  (RSPCA monitoring).
Give him a step up!

Hi Leo , yes I expect that step up pose is better than kicking a dog ! It think I have a place for him , will post a photo when he's finished . There are other civilians mostly 40,s but they can fit in if painted a bit brighter . Is your track a rally stage ?

Hi Leo, have a look at Amazon under 1/35figures about a tenner a box , quite a few that could be used ,if your rally stage is set in Europe ,some of the civilians would fit well  . Will see what else I can find

Found a spot for the dog kicker , now he seems to have a purpose . Assembled one of the ladies , does not look interested in motor racing at all !!

Yo Steve,
Yes, both my tracks are single lane, although the Carrera one started out as a race track and still has Pits/Boxes and Grandstands in the stadium section. Tarn Foundries started making specific rally spectators (Anorak-Man, etc) but folded up. Bob Chapman bought the moulds and so I was hopeful that the figures would re-appear but not yet.
Thanks for the suggestions, as you have seen, I am following through on them, almost stalking you !
